- Choose Astrologer when creating your character. The staff is part of that class's starting equipment.

Liurnia of the Lakes
Starting Site of Grace: Liurnia Lake Shore
Before you go
- Bring 800 runes.
- From Lake-Facing Cliffs, follow the downhill road toward the southern shore of Liurnia's lake. Activate Liurnia Lake Shore at the foot of the slope.
- Speak to the merchant sitting beside the campfire near that grace. Open his shop and buy Astrologer's Staff for 800 runes. You can buy it regardless of your starting class.
Notes
- A straightforward Intelligence-scaling staff with no special school bonus or additional FP penalty. Its casting strength depends on Intelligence and its upgrade level, rather than the Strength used for striking with the staff.
- Astrologer starts with one, but other classes can buy it from the merchant beside Liurnia Lake Shore. You do not need to restart as an Astrologer to obtain it.
- It starts with No Skill. Can use the compatible Spinning Weapon Ash of War; normal melee affinities and weapon grease are not part of its setup.
- Upgrade it with Smithing Stones, up to +25. Its Intelligence scaling gives 230 sorcery scaling at 40 Intelligence and 340 at 80 Intelligence when fully upgraded.
- An unupgraded copy is starting equipment, rather than a staff permanently tied to the class. Buying another copy does not teach sorceries; learn a spell and memorize it separately at a grace.
