About this armor

When you suffer a full Madness proc while wearing it, attack damage increases by 10% for 60 seconds. The bonus applies in both PvE and PvP and covers physical and elemental attacks, including damaging spells.

Partial Madness buildup does not activate the bonus. An enemy or ally suffering Madness nearby also does not activate this helmet; the wearer has to suffer it.

Frenzied Flame incantations such as Howl of Shabriri can build Madness on yourself, but triggering it costs HP and FP and leaves you briefly helpless. The helmet does not require inheriting the Frenzied Flame.

In-game description

Mask forced on a victim's head to lend torture an extra degree of cruelty.

It magnifies one's fears and makes them acutely aware of all forms of pain.

Raises attack power when the wearer suffers from madness.

When the Black Dumpling goes on, the torturer no longer seeks answers; only to inflict suffering without hope of relief.

Where to find

Volcano Manor Guest Hall

Mt. Gelmir

Starting Site of Grace: Guest Hall

  1. If you have not entered the dungeon yet, speak to Tanith in Volcano Manor and accept her invitation to get the Drawing-Room Key. Open the first room on the right in the corridor. Roll into or strike the illusory wall in the back-right corner to reveal a passage. Follow it downstairs, past the snails and Bloodhound Knight, to the Prison Town Church grace.
  2. Leave the church through its large doors and take the path downhill to the right. Follow the outer wall, watching for the Abductor Virgin. When the path splits at the stairs, cross the bridge toward the large building guarded by a Man-Serpent. Its front door is locked, so go around the right side to the ladder.
  3. Climb onto the roof and cross to its southern side. Look over the western edge for a narrow balcony with an open doorway and a lit lantern. Drop onto that balcony and enter the room.
  4. An Omenkiller is inside. Deal with it or keep clear of its attacks while collecting the Albinauric Staff and Albinauric Mask from the body in the room.
  5. From the Omenkiller room, go through the window to the left of the doorway you entered. Drop to the lower landing and enter either open door; both lead into the same lower room. Activate Guest Hall grace in its small side room.
  6. From Guest Hall, leave the grace room and clear the nearby rooms and stairway of crawling Albinaurics wearing black hoods. They rush forward with a grab, so let the lunge miss before attacking. Check their loot after each kill.
  7. Return to the grace and rest to repeat. The hood is a rare random drop, not a reward for clearing the building once. Focus on the hooded enemies rather than assuming every hanging cage or Albinauric has the same drop.

Notes

  • When you suffer a full Madness proc while wearing it, attack damage increases by 10% for 60 seconds. The bonus applies in both PvE and PvP and covers physical and elemental attacks, including damaging spells.
  • Partial Madness buildup does not activate the bonus. An enemy or ally suffering Madness nearby also does not activate this helmet; the wearer has to suffer it.
  • Frenzied Flame incantations such as Howl of Shabriri can build Madness on yourself, but triggering it costs HP and FP and leaves you briefly helpless. The helmet does not require inheriting the Frenzied Flame.
  • The bonus does not turn ordinary attacks into Madness attacks or make Madness work on enemies normally immune to it. Most enemies and bosses cannot suffer the status.
  • The eligible hooded Albinauric has a 0.5% base drop chance at 100 Discovery. Higher Discovery improves the roll, but no fixed number of kills guarantees a drop.
  • Weighs 2.7 and provides 4 poise, with 0 Focus resistance from the helmet itself. It cannot be altered and has no matching outfit bonus.
