Starting Site of Grace: Bestial Sanctum

  1. For an early approach, go behind Third Church of Marika in eastern Limgrave and find the sending gate hidden in the vegetation beside the stream. Use it to reach Bestial Sanctum and activate the grace inside.
  2. Leave the sanctum without attacking Gurranq and go to the cliff on the building's western side. The Black Blade Kindred guarding the main approach does not need to be defeated.
  3. Leave Bestial Sanctum and go to the cliff on its western side. Look down for the large root sticking out of the rock. Drop onto that root, then the root below it, and use them to reach the dome of the structure underneath.
  4. Drop from the dome to the main stone platform. Look south for the ledge wrapped around a pillar. Use Torrent to reach that ledge, then jump toward the northern ledge and descend to the next stone level. Watch for the Giant Bat here.
  5. Follow this level clockwise around the sanctum, past the corpse holding Soft Cotton. At the last pillar, step down onto the stone support connecting it to the sanctum wall.
  6. Use the narrow ledges on the building wall to descend one level at a time. Land on each ledge; do not jump straight to the bottom or rely on Torrent's second jump to cancel fall damage.
  7. On the lowest level, follow the structure counterclockwise around to its northern side. Collect Cinquedea from the platform directly behind Bestial Sanctum. Dragoncrest Shield Talisman is on this same level.

Notes

  • Requires ten Strength and ten Dexterity, weighs 3.5 and has a critical rating of 100. Its Physical damage favors Strength over Dexterity, and it has no Faith scaling.
  • While held in an active equipment slot, it increases damaging bestial incantations by 10%. Cast with a Sacred Seal in the other hand; attacking with the dagger is unnecessary for this bonus.
  • The damaging spells covered are Bestial Sling, Stone of Gurranq, Beast Claw and Gurranq's Beast Claw. It does not strengthen every incantation or weapon skill with a beast-themed name.
  • It does not improve Bestial Vitality's healing or Bestial Constitution's cleansing. Those spells do not become stronger because this dagger boosts the damaging members of their family.
  • The bonus stacks with Clawmark Seal's separate 10% bestial bonus for 21% more damage together. Adding the two percentages as a flat 20% understates that combination.
  • Two copies can also supply two stacking bonuses while both are active. You still need a Sacred Seal to cast, so simply holding two daggers does not let either one cast incantations.
  • The 10% passive does not grow with reinforcement. Upgrading improves the dagger's own attacks, while your seal, attributes and other applicable bonuses determine the spell's damage before this multiplier.
  • Quickstep is fixed. You cannot replace the skill, change the affinity, or apply grease or a weapon enchantment. Upgrade with Somber Smithing Stones to +10.
  • The pickup is on the lowest exterior platform behind Bestial Sanctum. Neither Gurranq nor Black Blade Kindred has to be killed; careful staged drops are required, and Torrent's second jump does not cancel fatal fall damage.
