In-game description
Formless drakeblood seal with a dragon communion crest. Enhances Dragon Communion incantations.
The sacrificial devouring of the heart gives power.
Indeed, Dragon Communion is too primal in nature for the term "incantation" to be appropriate.
This seal scales incantations with one's arcane attribute.
Skill
This armament has no skill. If the armament in the other hand has a skill, that skill will be used instead.Ash of War: No Skill
Where to find
Limgrave
Starting Site of Grace: Stranded Graveyard
Before you go
- Bring two Stonesword Keys.
- At Stranded Graveyard, use two Stonesword Keys on the imp statue beside the fog barrier. Go through, climb down the ladder, and cross the poisonous water to the chariot passage.
- Use the side alcoves as cover. Wait for the chariot to pass, then move to the next alcove while it travels away from you. Continue down the slopes and across the narrow bridge.
- At the fork beyond the bridge, take the passage leading uphill to the right. The downhill route leads farther toward the dungeon boss and is not needed for the seal.
- Follow the uphill passage past the ghostly soldiers to the room at its end. Defeat the spectral Banished Knight there to receive Dragon Communion Seal.
Notes
- Arcane is its strongest casting stat, with Faith also contributing. This makes it a natural choice for an Arcane/Faith caster, but each dragon incantation still needs its own Faith and Arcane requirements.
- Increases damage from the supported Dragon Communion incantations by 15%. Dragon Communion breaths and transformations are a different spell group from the Dragon Cult's lightning incantations.
- Arcane can increase compatible status buildup from incantations cast with this seal. That does not mean every status scales with Arcane: Scarlet Rot and Frostbite should not be treated like blood loss or Madness.
- Direct healing and weapon enchantments use the Faith part of its incantation scaling. The Arcane contribution to the displayed total does not make those spells stronger.
- It has No Skill. Upgrade it with Somber Smithing Stones, up to +10. The Fringefolk Hero's Grave knight holding it is separate from the dungeon's final boss.
- Requires 10 Faith and 10 Arcane and weighs nothing. Arcane is its stronger casting contribution, with Faith also important; more Arcane is not automatically better than a balanced investment at every stat range.
- The 15% school passive works while held in the other hand. Two held copies multiply to a 32.25% damage bonus, and the passive does not grow with reinforcement.
- The bonus covers the ordinary and named dragon breaths, Magma Breath, Theodorix's Magma, Dragonclaw, Dragonmaw and Greyoll's Roar. It also covers Ghostflame Breath and both Bayle incantations.
- Placidusax's Ruin is excluded, despite its dragon form. Dragon Cult lightning spells are a different group and need their own bonus.
- The passive damage bonus does not increase Scarlet Rot or Frostbite buildup. Arcane-based buildup changes come from actually casting with an Arcane-scaling catalyst, rather than holding this seal beside another caster.
- Its Arcane scaling does not make all incantations apply bleed or Madness. A spell needs its own compatible status effect, and modern status scaling is much weaker than the old rapid-Madness setups.
- Regeneration with a fixed healing rate does not improve from the displayed scaling. For direct heals and weapon enchantments, its Faith contribution is the relevant part.
- The spectral knight is the required enemy for this seal. The Ulcerated Tree Spirit at the bottom of Fringefolk Hero's Grave and the chariot-destruction puzzle are unnecessary.
