About this item

Throw to release pursuing spirits that chase enemies. The spirits deal Magic damage that scales with Intelligence and Faith rather than the attack power of your equipped weapon.

Each throw uses 11 FP as well as one prepared pot. Keep FP available even if the item is already crafted.

Give the spirits a clear path. Obstacles can stop them reaching a target, and a fast enemy can move away before all of them connect.

In-game description

Craftable item prepared using a capacious cracked pot.

Enchanted by the ancient death hex.

Consumes FP. Throw at enemies to spawn a throng of vengeful spirits that chase down foes.

In times of old, the dead were burned with ghostflame, and from those cinders arose vengeful spirits.

Where to find

Crafting after obtaining Greater Potentate's Cookbook [14]

Charo's Hidden Grave

Starting Site of Grace: Charo's Hidden Grave

Before you go

  • Crafting Kit
  • Greater Potentate's Cookbook [14]
  • Empty Hefty Cracked Pot
  • Ingredients for one pot: 3 Whiteflesh Mushroom and 2 Ghostflame Bloom
  1. From Castle Front, follow the road southeast toward Pillar Path Waypoint. At the fork, use the lower road toward Igon rather than climbing to the Suppressing Pillar.
  2. Continue south-southwest past the broken dragon statues. An Ancient Dragon-Man invades along this approach. The cave entrance is on the left near the end of the path, marked by a fire.
  3. Activate Dragon's Pit grace and follow the lit passage down. Watch for skeletons below the first ledge and around the next corner. Strike their glowing remains after knocking them down to stop them getting back up.
  4. In the large cavern with the pillars, follow the left-hand ledge down and take the passage beside the distant crossbow skeleton. Continue onto the sloping stairs in the next chamber.
  5. Take the downward route toward the large altar and pit. The stairs going up lead to an optional Magma Wyrm; that fight is not needed to reach the exit.
  6. At the bottom, approach the message beside the deep chasm. Walk straight off this lowest ledge into the pit to land safely by the boss mist. Do not jump from the higher rooms or aim toward the side walls.
  7. Defeat the Ancient Dragon-Man behind the mist. Open the large doors at the back of the arena instead of using the return-to-entrance exit, then follow the tunnel to Dragon's Pit Terminus grace.
  8. Leave Dragon's Pit Terminus and descend to the lake bed with a Jagged Peak Drake. You can ride past the drake; follow the southern canyon toward the enormous dead dragon.
  9. Pass the dragon statues and emerge beside the ruined structure north of Grand Altar of Dragon Communion. The huge stone bowl and dead dragon identify the altar.
  10. At the altar, head west over the dead dragon and continue west-southwest toward the red flowers. This leads into the upper hidden grave, not the blue-flowered coast below.
  11. The entrance meets the lowest section of a shallow river. The river climbs northwest through several pools separated by small waterfalls.
  12. Continue northwest up the river past the Mariner pools. At the upper end, follow the red-flowered trail on the western bank to Charo's Hidden Grave grace.
  13. Pass northwest beneath the stone arch into the larger flooded graveyard. Gravebirds surround the lake, and a Death Rite Bird can appear near its centre.
  14. Follow the left side of the water into the southwestern inlet with skeletons and Miranda flowers. Look behind the largest flower for the corpse holding the cookbook.
  15. Loot the corpse behind the flower. You do not need to climb to the Hippopotamus pool above or complete Lamenter's Gaol.
  16. Buy the Crafting Kit from Kalé at the Church of Elleh if Item Crafting is still unavailable.
  17. Bring an empty Hefty Cracked Pot and the listed ingredients. Open Item Crafting outside combat, select Hefty Rancor Pot and make the pot.

Notes

  • Throw to release pursuing spirits that chase enemies. The spirits deal Magic damage that scales with Intelligence and Faith rather than the attack power of your equipped weapon.
  • Each throw uses 11 FP as well as one prepared pot. Keep FP available even if the item is already crafted.
  • Give the spirits a clear path. Obstacles can stop them reaching a target, and a fast enemy can move away before all of them connect.
  • Each pot needs three Whiteflesh Mushrooms, two Ghostflame Blooms and an empty Hefty Cracked Pot. Throwing it frees the container, while the ingredients are consumed.
  • Ordinary Rancor Pots use Ritual Pots and different ingredients. They do not share the same container pool as this hefty version.
  • Carry up to ten, subject to the Hefty Cracked Pots you own. Other hefty recipes compete for those same empty containers.
  • Being a ghostflame-themed item does not mean its spirits deal Fire damage or automatically inflict Frostbite.
