Where to find
Deeproot Depths
Starting Site of Grace: Prince of Death's Throne
Before you go
- Complete Fia's dream and give the complete regular Twinned outfit to D's twin.
- Defeat Starscourge Radahn at the Radahn Festival in Redmane Castle. His defeat opens the starfall crater in Limgrave; it is not the sealed Siofra River overlook reached from the Four Belfries.
- Return to the Mistwood near Fort Haight and find the new crater marked by floating rocks. Use the descending ledges and openings to enter Nokron, Eternal City.
- Follow the rooftops down into Nokron's streets, then continue to the Mimic Tear boss. Defeat it and cross the long bridge beyond the arena.
- Leave the bridge on the left where it opens into woodland. Follow the western cliff to Ancestral Woods grace, overlooking the lower rooftops.
- From the upper woodland, go toward the trees beside Hallowhorn Grounds and the Spirit Jellyfish along the northern cliff. Use the lower ledge below the edge, then follow the descending path into the cave to Aqueduct-Facing Cliffs grace. You do not need to light the ancestor pillars.
- Leave the cave toward the aqueduct. Drop onto the stone support leading to the building, then onto the lower ledge. A Crucible Knight patrols nearby, so wait for an opening before moving across.
- Continue toward the building with water pouring out. Another Crucible Knight stands by the waterfall. Go north through the water channel, turn into the area on the right and climb the stairs through the arch. D's twin sits near this approach to the boss.
- Defeat both Valiant Gargoyles. Afterward, activate Great Waterfall Basin grace and rest in the coffin beside the waterfall to reach Deeproot Depths.
- From Great Waterfall Crest, head west onto the huge roots. Use the root descending on the left to cross the gap, then continue west past the giant ants to Deeproot Depths grace beside the Finger Reader. The Erdtree Avatar and the ant cave are optional detours.
- Head north into the shallow water and ruins. The map is in the gazebo. Continue west beneath the large root and past the ghostly soldiers to The Nameless Eternal City grace beside an arch.
- Climb onto the partly sunken buildings east of that grace, then onto the roots above them. Take the right fork, continue past the tower toward the northeastern cliff and drop right to Across the Roots grace.
- Go through the root opening into the large clearing beneath Godwyn. Defeat all three waves of Fia's Champions. The final wave has three opponents together; you can use a Spirit Ash here. Fia's Mist is the direct reward.
- Speak to Fia after the champions. Choose No, I want to be held, then use her private conversation options. Do not attack her.
- Bring Cursemark of Death from the summit of Divine Tower of Liurnia. To reach it, give Ranni Fingerslayer Blade, use her Carian Inverted Statue on the entrance pedestal in Carian Study Hall, descend the inverted hall by its ledges, chandeliers and beams, then ride the central lift and cross the tower bridge.
- While Fia holds you, finish her private dialogue and give her the cursemark. Keep talking until her conversation repeats. Rest at the nearby grace and return for her later dialogue; repeat until she is asleep.
- Touch the sleeping Fia to enter the Deathbed Dream. Defeat Lichdragon Fortissax, then collect Mending Rune of the Death-Prince from her body when you return.
- For the armor route here, collect the ending rune first. If you have not already handed over the Twinned outfit, return to D's twin outside the Gargoyles arena. Give him the regular helm, chest, gauntlets and greaves together; restore an altered chest before trying.
- Return to Prince of Death's Throne and finish the twin's dialogue over Fia. Loot her body for Fia's Hood and Fia's Robe. Reload afterward to reclaim the Twinned outfit and Inseparable Sword when the twin has gone.
Notes
- Requires 18 Strength, 18 Dexterity and 20 Faith, and weighs 10. Its physical damage scales equally with Strength and Dexterity; Faith supplies its stronger scaling contribution through Holy damage. Intelligence and Arcane do not add attack power.
- Upgrade with Somber Smithing Stones to +10. Sacred Blade is fixed and cannot be replaced. Grease and outside weapon enchantments cannot be applied, though its own skill still enchants the blade.
- Sacred Blade costs 19 FP, swings the sword and launches a Holy wave. It also adds 90 Holy attack power to the weapon for 40 seconds. At close range, the sword and projectile can both connect.
- The projectile scales with Faith and weapon upgrade level. Strength and Dexterity improve the physical part of sword hits, rather than directly increasing the separate Holy wave.
- The sword has an innate 20% damage bonus against susceptible undead enemies and prevents ordinary skeletons it kills from rebuilding. Holy damage alone does not give every other weapon that permanent-kill property.
- Sacred Blade adds its own temporary anti-undead benefit while active, making the skill useful for these enemies as well as for its ranged attack. Keep the buff active when you want its extra Holy damage.
- It deals split physical and Holy damage. Strong Holy resistance can reduce its performance even when the displayed total attack power looks high. Its critical rating is the normal 100.
- The reward belongs to D's twin's final scene. Killing the first D in Limgrave is not a direct shortcut to this sword; his early drops are his armor and bell bearing.
- After the final scene at Prince of Death's Throne, reload and collect the sword with the returned Twinned outfit. You do not have to attack the twin after his dialogue to claim the abandoned equipment.
- Its two-handed light attacks use the flowing alternate greatsword chain shared with Knight's Greatsword and Banished Knight's Greatsword. That is a different pattern from the repeated downward swings of the usual greatsword chain.
