About this item

Releases four pursuing spirits that deal Magic damage. Each connects and goes through enemy defense separately, so four spirits are not the same as one four-times-damage impact.

Damage scales with both Intelligence and Faith. It does not use the Sorcery Scaling or Incantation Scaling of the catalyst in your hands.

A normal use costs 5 FP and needs no spell slot. The spirits need space and time to reach the target; walls, cover and an enemy moving away can prevent hits.

In times of old, the dead were burned with ghostflame, and from those cinders arose vengeful spirits.

Where to find

Crafting after obtaining Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [9]

Weeping Peninsula

Starting Site of Grace: Tombsward Catacombs

Before you go

  • Crafting Kit
  • Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [9]
  • Empty Cracked Pot
  • Ingredients for one pot: 2 Grave Violet and 1 Human Bone Shard
  • Stonesword Key
  1. Find Tombsward Catacombs in the central Weeping Peninsula, south of the Church of Pilgrimage.
  2. Enter the catacombs and look for the imp seal near the entrance.
  3. Use a Stonesword Key to remove the mist, then check the room beyond.
  4. Deal with the skeleton and loot the corpse for the cookbook.
  5. If needed, buy the Crafting Kit from Kale at Church of Elleh for 300 runes. Owning a cookbook alone does not open Item Crafting.
  6. Collect the listed ingredients and keep an empty Cracked Pot. Open Item Crafting outside combat and make Rancor Pot, then assign it to a quick-item slot or pouch.

Notes

  • Releases four pursuing spirits that deal Magic damage. Each connects and goes through enemy defense separately, so four spirits are not the same as one four-times-damage impact.
  • Damage scales with both Intelligence and Faith. It does not use the Sorcery Scaling or Incantation Scaling of the catalyst in your hands.
  • A normal use costs 5 FP and needs no spell slot. The spirits need space and time to reach the target; walls, cover and an enemy moving away can prevent hits.
  • The target may dodge the initial thrown pot and still be approached by the spirits afterward. That delayed pursuit is different from Magic Pot's immediate explosion.
  • The death-themed appearance does not inflict Death Blight or lower maximum HP. These are Magic-damage projectiles.
  • Companion Jar and pot headgear can improve eligible direct damage. Shard of Alexander does not boost it as a weapon skill, and Godfrey Icon does not make it a charged spell.
  • Each craft uses 2 Grave Violet and 1 Human Bone Shard and occupies one empty Cracked Pot. The ingredients are spent, while throwing the pot returns its container for another mixture.
  • Other recipes using the same container type share that supply. The recipe remains unlocked after use, but an empty pot does not refill itself without another craft.
