About this item
Releases bloodflies behind your character. Locking onto an enemy ahead does not redirect the roped throw forward.
The flies deal small physical hits and apply Blood Loss, with 70 base buildup on the relevant hits before Arcane scaling. A full sequence still needs the enemy to remain within reach.
Costs no FP. Its recipe adds String to Swarm Pot's ingredients and uses the same supply of empty Cracked Pots.

In-game description
Craftable item prepared using a cracked pot.
A cocktail of effluents is sealed inside, and a short rope that aids throwing has been secured around the pot.
Throw at rearward enemies to release a swarm of bloodflies. Their fangs inflict countless painful lacerations on the victim while the grating sound of their wings assails their sanity.
The maggots found in waste feed on blood and turn into vicious flies that are pitiably short-lived.
Where to find
Crafting after obtaining Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [24]
Mohgwyn Palace
Starting Site of Grace: Palace Approach Ledge-Road
Before you go
- Crafting Kit
- Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [24]
- Empty Cracked Pot
- Ingredients for one pot: 1 Mushroom, 1 Blood-Tainted Excrement and 1 String
- Obtain the right Haligtree Secret Medallion half from Albus in Village of the Albinaurics, beneath southwestern Liurnia's plateau. Follow the village path uphill past the perfumer, reveal the large pot before the bridge and speak to Albus. Stop attacking once he appears.
- Obtain the left half from the rooftop beyond Commander Niall in Castle Sol. After defeating Niall, go through the exit behind his arena, ride the tower lift and collect the half beside the seated spirit. It is a separate pickup from his direct weapon reward.
- Return to the Grand Lift of Rold and switch the action to Hoist secret medallion. Follow Hidden Path to the Haligtree through to the snowy exit. The ordinary Rold Medallion goes to the other part of the Mountaintops.
- Activate Consecrated Snowfield grace near the exit. For Inner Consecrated Snowfield, continue north through the blizzard until the open ground becomes clearer; keep the grace as a safe return point.
- From Inner Consecrated Snowfield, ride west toward the cliff northwest of Yelough Anix Ruins. Among the pale tree stumps, defeat the invading Sanguine Noble. This activates the nearby sending gate.
- Continue west to the fallen tree near the cliff. Just south of it, find the blood-covered sending gate beside an Albinauric. Use the gate, leave the dark cave and follow the left-hand downhill trail to Palace Approach Ledge-Road grace.
- From Palace Approach Ledge-Road, follow the slope north past the Albinaurics. Before riding into the main blood lake, look for the opening in the cliff on the left.
- Follow that side passage to its end and drop into the lower blood pool. Stay beside the ridge on the left until you reach the corpse holding Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook (24).
- Watch for the giant bloody crow around this lower pool. If a Nameless White Mask invades, deal with it before trying to ride away, because the invasion prevents mounted travel. Mohg himself is not required for the book.
- Buy the Crafting Kit from Kale at Church of Elleh for 300 runes if Item Crafting is unavailable. Keep the cookbook; it remains usable after learning its recipes.
- Collect the listed ingredients and keep an empty Cracked Pot. Open Item Crafting outside combat, prepare Roped Fly Pot and assign it to a quick-item slot or pouch.
Notes
- Releases bloodflies behind your character. Locking onto an enemy ahead does not redirect the roped throw forward.
- The flies deal small physical hits and apply Blood Loss, with 70 base buildup on the relevant hits before Arcane scaling. A full sequence still needs the enemy to remain within reach.
- Costs no FP. Its recipe adds String to Swarm Pot's ingredients and uses the same supply of empty Cracked Pots.
- Arcane improves buildup, while Faith and a sacred seal do not make it behave like the Swarm of Flies incantation.
- It is useful against a pursuer, but an enemy that changes direction or is immune to Blood Loss removes much of that value. Direct damage and a successful bleed burst are separate.
- One craft uses 1 Mushroom, 1 Blood-Tainted Excrement and 1 String and an empty Cracked Pot. Throwing returns the container, while another mixture needs fresh ingredients.
- Recipes using the same container type share the empty supply. Cracked Pots, Ritual Pots and Hefty Cracked Pots cannot replace one another.
