About this item
Applies 300 Scarlet Rot buildup to enemies caught by the burst. The target still needs to be vulnerable, and one hit only triggers rot if it fills that target's remaining buildup meter.
The rot buildup is fixed rather than improved by Arcane or Faith. Higher attributes do not turn the mixture into an automatic rot trigger against resistant enemies.
Uses an empty Ritual Pot, not a Cracked Pot or Hefty Cracked Pot. The prepared mixtures compete for your available Ritual Pots, with up to ten containers to collect.

Where to find
Crafting after obtaining Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [22]
Lake of Rot
Starting Site of Grace: Lake of Rot Shoreside
Before you go
- Crafting Kit
- Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [22]
- Empty Ritual Pot
- Ingredients for one pot: 2 Toxic Mushroom, 2 Faded Erdleaf Flower and 1 Aeonian Butterfly
- Give Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade from Nokron, then use the waygate at the top of Renna's Rise to reach Ainsel River Main. Renna's Rise is the northern tower in the Three Sisters area behind Caria Manor, separate from Ranni's own tower.
- Activate Ainsel River Main grace and follow the water through the Claymen toward the hanging creature in Uhl Palace Ruins. Use the ruins on the left as cover from its stone volleys and continue beneath it into the river tunnel.
- Pass the ants, including the flying ones. At the open cavern, follow the river to the right; the left branch returns toward the lower river merchant.
- Go through the doorway on the right and down the steps to Nokstella, Eternal City grace. The ordinary Ainsel River Well in Liurnia does not reach this upper entrance.
- Stay on Nokstella's lower river path instead of taking the stairs into the city. Follow the river to the lift at its far end and ride down to Nokstella Waterfall Basin grace.
- Follow the tunnel past the Basilisks. Their clouds cause Death Blight, so move out of the clouds rather than trying to heal through a full buildup bar.
- If you have spoken to Miniature Ranni and accepted her request, the Baleful Shadow appears in the open cavern ahead. Defeat it to continue that quest. Speaking to the doll is not required to reach the lake.
- Continue beyond the cavern to the lift down to Lake of Rot Shoreside. Activate the grace and prepare healing plus Preserving Boluses or Flame, Cleanse Me before entering the lake.
- From the shore, look southwest for the first small obelisk. Run to its floor button to raise dry platforms, then continue south across them. Watch for Basilisks emerging beside the path.
- From the southwestern end of those platforms, cross to the next obelisk southwest and press its button. Stop on dry ground to treat Scarlet Rot or restore HP before continuing.
- Look toward the enormous doorway on the lake's southern side. Cross the remaining stretches toward that entrance, using exposed stone for breaks. Avoid rolling in the rot, which coats you and keeps buildup going after you leave it.
- Enter the large doorway and follow the stairs down to Grand Cloister grace. Activate it before returning for nearby lake loot. The Dragonkin Soldier and the raised Alabaster Lord area are optional detours.
- From the cloister entrance, return to the lake side and look northwest for the separate ruined stone building in the southwestern water.
- Cross using the small dry patches and enter that ruin. Open its chest for Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [22], then return to Grand Cloister grace to recover.
- The book is outside the cloister, not in the shrine below. The lower shrine chest contains Scorpion's Stinger instead.
- Buy the Crafting Kit from Kalé at Church of Elleh for 300 runes if Item Crafting is unavailable. Owning the cookbook alone does not open that menu.
- Bring an empty Ritual Pot and the listed ingredients. Open Item Crafting outside combat, select Rot Pot and make the pot.
Notes
- Applies 300 Scarlet Rot buildup to enemies caught by the burst. The target still needs to be vulnerable, and one hit only triggers rot if it fills that target's remaining buildup meter.
- The rot buildup is fixed rather than improved by Arcane or Faith. Higher attributes do not turn the mixture into an automatic rot trigger against resistant enemies.
- Uses an empty Ritual Pot, not a Cracked Pot or Hefty Cracked Pot. The prepared mixtures compete for your available Ritual Pots, with up to ten containers to collect.
- Throwing the mixture frees the container so you can craft again. The ingredients are consumed, and the emptied container does not automatically refill itself.
- Each craft makes one using two Toxic Mushrooms, two Faded Erdleaf Flowers and one Aeonian Butterfly. The cookbook is kept, and throwing it costs no FP.
- Status buildup is different from the damage that follows a successful infection. A missed throw or an enemy immune to rot can waste the finite materials without producing that ongoing damage.
- Hefty Rot Pot is a different mixture with its own cookbook, ingredients and container. Finding this recipe does not unlock the hefty version.
- Its rot normally deals 0.18% of maximum HP plus 15 HP per second for 90 seconds. Hefty Rot Pot instead applies the stronger 0.33% plus 13 version, as well as 400 rather than 300 buildup.
- Those health-drain formulas are separate from the small physical impact. Increasing impact damage does not multiply the fixed rot drain.
