About this item

Releases bloodflies that deal small physical hits and build Blood Loss. The relevant bloodfly hits have 70 base buildup before the pot's Arcane scaling.

It is a series of hits rather than one guaranteed bleed activation. A moving target may avoid part of the swarm, and an immune enemy cannot be forced to bleed.

Costs no FP and needs no sacred seal or spell slot. Swarm of Flies is a separate incantation with its own casting cost and scaling.

In-game description

Craftable item prepared using a cracked pot.

A cocktail of effluents is sealed inside.

Throw at enemies to set a swarm of bloodflies upon them. The vile swarm deals damage and builds up onset of blood loss. The cacophony of their wings assails the sanity of berserkers.

The maggots found in waste feed on blood and turn into vicious flies that are pitiably short-lived.

Where to find

Crafting after obtaining Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [24]

Mohgwyn Palace

Starting Site of Grace: Palace Approach Ledge-Road

Before you go

  • Crafting Kit
  • Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [24]
  • Empty Cracked Pot
  • Ingredients for one pot: 1 Mushroom and 1 Blood-Tainted Excrement
  1. Obtain the right Haligtree Secret Medallion half from Albus in Village of the Albinaurics, beneath southwestern Liurnia's plateau. Follow the village path uphill past the perfumer, reveal the large pot before the bridge and speak to Albus. Stop attacking once he appears.
  2. Obtain the left half from the rooftop beyond Commander Niall in Castle Sol. After defeating Niall, go through the exit behind his arena, ride the tower lift and collect the half beside the seated spirit. It is a separate pickup from his direct weapon reward.
  3. Return to the Grand Lift of Rold and switch the action to Hoist secret medallion. Follow Hidden Path to the Haligtree through to the snowy exit. The ordinary Rold Medallion goes to the other part of the Mountaintops.
  4. Activate Consecrated Snowfield grace near the exit. For Inner Consecrated Snowfield, continue north through the blizzard until the open ground becomes clearer; keep the grace as a safe return point.
  5. From Inner Consecrated Snowfield, ride west toward the cliff northwest of Yelough Anix Ruins. Among the pale tree stumps, defeat the invading Sanguine Noble. This activates the nearby sending gate.
  6. Continue west to the fallen tree near the cliff. Just south of it, find the blood-covered sending gate beside an Albinauric. Use the gate, leave the dark cave and follow the left-hand downhill trail to Palace Approach Ledge-Road grace.
  7. From Palace Approach Ledge-Road, follow the slope north past the Albinaurics. Before riding into the main blood lake, look for the opening in the cliff on the left.
  8. Follow that side passage to its end and drop into the lower blood pool. Stay beside the ridge on the left until you reach the corpse holding Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook (24).
  9. Watch for the giant bloody crow around this lower pool. If a Nameless White Mask invades, deal with it before trying to ride away, because the invasion prevents mounted travel. Mohg himself is not required for the book.
  10. Buy the Crafting Kit from Kale at Church of Elleh for 300 runes if Item Crafting is unavailable. Keep the cookbook; it remains usable after learning its recipes.
  11. Collect the listed ingredients and keep an empty Cracked Pot. Open Item Crafting outside combat, prepare Swarm Pot and assign it to a quick-item slot or pouch.

Notes

  • Releases bloodflies that deal small physical hits and build Blood Loss. The relevant bloodfly hits have 70 base buildup before the pot's Arcane scaling.
  • It is a series of hits rather than one guaranteed bleed activation. A moving target may avoid part of the swarm, and an immune enemy cannot be forced to bleed.
  • Costs no FP and needs no sacred seal or spell slot. Swarm of Flies is a separate incantation with its own casting cost and scaling.
  • Arcane improves the pot's buildup rather than converting it into the same spell your seal would cast. Increasing Faith or upgrading the seal does not directly improve this mixture.
  • Repeated fly hits can pressure smaller enemies, but they do not guarantee that every boss remains interrupted until Blood Loss triggers.
  • The recipe is in Mohgwyn Palace. You can reach its corpse without defeating Mohg, and Blood-Tainted Excrement is different from the gold-tinged material used for Fetid Pots.
  • One craft uses 1 Mushroom and 1 Blood-Tainted Excrement and an empty Cracked Pot. Throwing returns the container, while another mixture needs fresh ingredients.
  • Recipes using the same container type share the empty supply. Cracked Pots, Ritual Pots and Hefty Cracked Pots cannot replace one another.
