In-game description
Mining tool of stonedigger trolls used to crack bedrock.
Trolls are descended from the giants, and these were supposedly once used as ceremonial smithing tools. In the distant past, smithing was considered divine.

Altus Plateau
Starting Site of Grace: Old Altus Tunnel
Before you go
- Bring two Stonesword Keys to open the tunnel.
- Find Old Altus Tunnel in the western Altus valley, south of The Shaded Castle. Use two Stonesword Keys at the entrance and take the lift down to its grace.
- Follow the tunnel past the first wooden shack into the large mine chamber. Take the ladder beside the shack, then use the wooden platforms and the lower shack's roof to descend into the pit.
- Search the shed beside the one containing a Somber Smithing Stone (4). Loot the corpse inside for the hammer. The Stonedigger Troll boss gives the Great Club instead.
Notes
- Requires 28 Strength, 8 Dexterity and 10 Faith and weighs 16.0. It deals strike physical damage plus fire damage. Strength is the main physical scaling attribute, Dexterity adds less, and Faith improves the fire portion.
- Grease and weapon enchantments can be applied despite its innate fire damage. This is a useful exception to the usual elemental-weapon restriction, so a suitable coating can add damage or status without removing the hammer's existing fire.
- The affinity and Troll's Roar skill are fixed. You cannot replace the skill or choose Heavy, Flame Art or another affinity. Being buffable does not give it the same customization as an ordinary infusable hammer.
- Troll's Roar costs 22 FP. The roar hits around you, then a strong-attack input gives an overhead slam without an extra FP charge. The follow-up still needs stamina, and you can stop after the roar if the enemy has moved away.
- The roar's separate physical attack improves with Strength and weapon reinforcement. Its strongest close contact deals 40 stance damage, while the outer part is weaker. A distant hit is not the same stance-breaking opportunity as landing it beside the target.
- Roar Medallion increases the roar and follow-up damage by 15%, and an active Highland Axe gives another 10%. These improve HP damage rather than increasing stance damage by the same percentages. Godfrey Icon does not apply because the skill is not chargeable.
- The full hammer slam has 45 stance damage when it connects, separate from the roar's stance damage. Create a long enough opening for the follow-up rather than relying on every large enemy being knocked down first.
- Upgrade with Smithing Stones to +25. The hammer is on a corpse in a mining shed in Old Altus Tunnel. The Stonedigger Troll boss awards Great Club instead, so you can collect this hammer without defeating that boss.
