Liurnia of the Lakes

Starting Site of Grace: Academy Gate Town

  1. From Liurnia Lake Shore, ride northwest through the shallow lake toward the flooded town below Raya Lucaria. Activate Academy Gate Town grace at its southeastern edge; no Academy Glintstone Key is required for these outside ruins.
  2. Start at the Academy Gate Town grace in the flooded ruins southeast of Raya Lucaria Academy. Head northwest through the sunken buildings toward the small ruined church.
  3. Look for the round-headed Albinaurics carrying shields. There are three shield bearers around these ruins. Kill them and check the dropped items for the Albinauric Shield.
  4. This is a random drop, so rest at Academy Gate Town and repeat the same group if you do not get it. Target the shield bearers rather than expecting every Albinauric to drop one.

Notes

  • Requires 11 Strength and weighs 4.5. On Standard affinity it blocks all physical damage and 66% Magic damage, useful Magic protection for a relatively light medium shield.
  • Lightning is its major weakness at 23% guarding protection. Fire is 42% and Holy is 47%, so its Magic performance should not be mistaken for strong protection against every element.
  • Has 56 base Guard Boost on Standard. A full physical block can still break your guard if the stamina cost empties your bar.
  • Parry is its default skill. This is an ordinary medium-shield parry, not automatic spell reflection or a special Albinauric casting ability.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War. No Skill leaves your right-hand skill available; a compatible parry replacement has its own timing and projectile rules.
  • Upgrade with Smithing Stones to +25. Its Standard shield attacks scale with Strength and have no Arcane scaling. The Albinauric name does not give it the staff's Intelligence and Arcane casting behavior.
  • Can use defensive Shield Grease and compatible shield spells. These affect guarding and do not depend on the shield being an enchantable offensive weapon.
  • Farm the shield-carrying round-headed Albinaurics in Liurnia. The red Albinaurics at Mohgwyn Palace are not a substitute farm for this shield.
