Weeping Peninsula

Starting Site of Grace: Tombsward

  1. Cross into the Weeping Peninsula and reach Church of Pilgrimage on the northern hill. Head south toward the western Minor Erdtree; the Avatar fight is optional for reaching the surrounding ledges.
  2. Reach the Minor Erdtree in the western half of Weeping Peninsula. Head northwest from its base to the grassy ledges below the cliff.
  3. Move to the northern side of those ledges and look west for the broken stone arch with a corpse on top. Drop onto the arch and collect Eclipse Crest Heater Shield.
  4. To leave, use the next broken stone section below rather than jumping straight to the ground. The height makes a direct drop unsafe.

Notes

  • On Standard affinity, blocks 100% of the physical portion of a successfully guarded hit. You still need enough stamina to hold your guard, and elemental damage is handled separately.
  • At +0 it blocks 44% Magic, 44% Fire, 37% Lightning and 44% Holy damage. These are guarding values, rather than protection from an attack that hits around your shield.
  • Starts with 54 Guard Boost at 3.5 weight and 10 Strength. It provides full Standard-affinity physical blocking without the Strength requirement of a greatshield.
  • This heater shield does not have the same resistance passive as Eclipse Crest Greatshield. The shared eclipse crest does not make the two items mechanically identical.
  • The corpse is on a broken stone arch in the western Weeping Peninsula. Its physical protection does not prevent a lethal fall from that arch.
  • Has No Skill by default. In the left hand it leaves the right-hand weapon's skill available; the shield will not parry just because you press the skill input.
  • Can use compatible shield Ashes of War. A new affinity can change blocking values and Guard Boost, so the Standard-affinity percentages above do not describe every infused version.
  • Upgrade with Smithing Stones to +25. Reinforcement improves Guard Boost and offensive power; it does not turn every elemental blocking percentage into 100%.
  • Shield Grease or Scholar's Shield can temporarily improve guarding. Those shield buffs are separate from a grease or enchantment applied to your right-hand weapon.
  • Lower the shield between attacks when it is safe so stamina can recover more quickly. Full physical blocking does not stop grabs, attacks from behind or every status effect from reaching you.
  • Requires 10 Strength and weighs 3.5. Strength scaling affects shield attacks, rather than increasing its fixed blocking percentages.
