In-game description
A tall, medium-sized wooden shield. Light for its size, and easy to handle. Carried by soldiers of the village that is afflicted by frenzy.
The yellow flame is the symbol of the affliction, serving as a warning to those who might approach the village.
Skill

Where to find
Weeping Peninsula
Starting Site of Grace: Ailing Village Outskirts
- From Bridge of Sacrifice, follow the peninsula's main road south past South of the Lookout Tower. Take the rising western route toward the ruined village on the hill and activate Ailing Village Outskirts.
- From Ailing Village Outskirts, climb into the ruined village on the hill. Watch for the frenzied villagers as you search the damaged houses.
- Collect Flame Crest Wooden Shield from the corpse inside a house in the village. You do not need to enter Callu Baptismal Church or defeat a boss for it.
Notes
- Requires eight Strength and weighs 3.5. Standard affinity blocks 94% Physical damage and has 49 base Guard Boost.
- Despite the flame crest, Standard Fire protection is only 32%; Holy protection is 50%. The picture on its face is not an additional fire-defense passive.
- Starts with Parry, which costs no FP. It is a medium shield with partial physical protection rather than a small shield simply because it is light and wooden.
- A fixed corpse pickup in Ailing Village. It is separate from the Frenzied Flame incantation inside nearby Callu Baptismal Church.
- Upgrade it with ordinary Smithing Stones to +25. The listed blocking percentages and base Guard Boost describe Standard affinity; changing affinity can trade physical protection for an element.
- Can use compatible shield Ashes of War. Shield Grease or Scholar's Shield can improve guarding; these are defensive shield buffs rather than permission to apply ordinary offensive grease to every affinity.
