Before you go

  • Have Torrent available.
  1. Cross the Bridge of Sacrifice from southern Limgrave into the Weeping Peninsula. Stay on the main road heading south toward Castle Morne.
  2. From Castle Morne Rampart beside the merchant, look east behind the bushes for the Spiritspring.
  3. Ride Torrent into the spring and jump toward the tower to the south. Steer onto its roof rather than the ground beside it.
  4. Search the corpse on the western side of the tower roof for Great Turtle Shell.

Notes

  • Requires 14 Strength and weighs 5.5. Standard affinity blocks 94% Physical damage and starts with 54 Guard Boost, so ordinary blocks still let some Physical damage through.
  • Adds three points of stamina recovery per second while selected. The bonus also works with the shell on your back while two-handing the other weapon; leaving it in an unused equipment slot does not activate it.
  • Its stamina recovery stacks with Green Turtle Talisman or Two-Headed Turtle Talisman, and with Pickled Turtle Neck or Well-Pickled Turtle Neck. The two talismans cannot be equipped together, and the two foods replace each other.
  • Barricade Shield is fitted by default and costs 12 FP. Its ten-second effect improves guarding and makes more ordinary attacks bounce off. It does not turn the shell's 94% Physical protection into 100%.
  • Can use compatible shield Ashes of War. Replacing Barricade Shield does not remove the shell's innate stamina recovery. Upgrade it with ordinary Smithing Stones to +25.
  • The shield is on the tower roof beside Castle Morne Rampart. It is not a reward for killing turtles, solving Oridys's Rise or defeating Castle Morne's boss.
