Starting Site of Grace: Rampart Tower

Before you go

  • Reach the Grafted Scion hall in Stormveil and bring one Stonesword Key.
  1. Reach Rampart Tower grace by following Stormveil's side entrance after Margit. Bring one Stonesword Key for the armory barrier.
  2. Leave toward the rampart with the barrel-carrying hawks. Follow it to the chapel roof, then descend into the chapel where Rogier can be found.
  3. Leave the chapel, pass the patrolling knight and follow the connecting rooms into the large hall with the Grafted Scion. Keep clear of the Scion if you do not want to fight it.
  4. Find the side doorway beside the hall leading into the small open area with the imp statue and fog barrier. If you have already opened the Rampart Tower lift shortcut, riding it down brings you back near this hall.
  5. Spend one Stonesword Key at the imp statue. Clear the two axe-wielding Exiles beyond the barrier and loot Hawk Crest Wooden Shield from its corpse.
  6. Collect Miséricorde and Iron Whetblade from the same armory before leaving. The key opens the barrier permanently for this journey.

Notes

  • A medium shield requiring 8 Strength and weighing 3.5. Standard affinity blocks 95% physical damage with 48 base Guard Boost.
  • Standard Magic, Lightning and Holy guards are 44%, while Fire is weaker at 32%. Its crest does not grant a jump-attack bonus or resistance to Stormhawk attacks.
  • Parry is the default, and it can use compatible Ashes of War. This is a medium-shield parry rather than a special hawk-themed counter.
  • Standard shield attacks scale with Strength. Even with reinforcement, a successful Standard physical block still allows the uncovered portion through.
  • One Stonesword Key opens the armory containing the shield, Miséricorde and Iron Whetblade together. Clear the two axe-wielding Exiles and collect all three rewards before leaving.
  • The Grafted Scion guards the larger nearby hall, rather than dropping this shield. You can reach the armory without killing it if you safely get through the side doorway.
  • Upgrade with Smithing Stones to +25. Defensive Shield Grease or a compatible shield-buff spell can improve guarding separately from offensive weapon coatings. Reinforcement does not remove chip damage from an incompletely blocked damage type.
