Liurnia of the Lakes

Starting Site of Grace: Academy Gate Town

  1. From Liurnia Lake Shore, ride northwest through the shallow lake to the flooded Academy Gate Town. Activate the grace at the southeastern edge before heading into its ruins.
  2. From Academy Gate Town, work northwest through the flooded ruins toward the approach to South Raya Lucaria Gate.
  3. Before you reach the bridge leading to the academy's sealed gate, check the buildings on the left, on the western edge of the town. Search the body behind the building beside that approach to collect Blue-White Wooden Shield.
  4. The shield is on a corpse behind the western building, rather than an enemy drop or a reward inside the academy. Collect it before returning to the road or the town grace.

Notes

  • A small shield weighing 2 and requiring 8 Strength. It is an easy way to carry a shield without a large equipment-load commitment, but its Standard physical block is only 85%.
  • Has 49 base Guard Boost. Standard Magic protection is 45%, Holy 42%, Fire 35% and Lightning only 22%; the star pattern does not give a sorcery bonus or complete Magic protection.
  • No Skill is the default. It does not parry automatically because it is a small shield. Can use compatible Ashes of War if you want to add a shield skill.
  • Its Standard physical shield attacks scale with Strength, with no innate Intelligence or Arcane scaling. Those attributes do not improve the shield just because its decoration represents the night sky.
  • The pickup is outside Raya Lucaria's sealed entrance. You do not need an Academy Glintstone Key, to defeat the nearby dragon or to clear the academy.
  • Upgrade with Smithing Stones to +25. Defensive Shield Grease or a compatible shield-buff spell can improve guarding separately from offensive weapon coatings. Reinforcement does not remove chip damage from an incompletely blocked damage type.
