Starting Site of Grace: Perfumer's Grotto

  1. From Altus Highway Junction, take the lower path north beside the great staircase toward Leyndell. Keep alongside the rock wall instead of climbing the staircase; watch for bears along the approach.
  2. Find the giant Miranda plant concealing Perfumer's Grotto's opening. Pass the plant, enter the cave and activate its grace.
  3. Descend to the first large chamber. The upper-ledge Perfumer uses a sword; farm the shield-carrying patroller below and the seated shield carrier beside the giant Miranda plant instead.
  4. Collect glowing drops and rest at the entrance to repeat. The selected carriers have a 2% base shield chance at 100 Discovery; the cave's boss pair is unnecessary.

Notes

  • Requires eight Strength and weighs only 1.5. Standard affinity blocks 78% Physical damage and starts with 45 Guard Boost; Lightning protection is only 16%.
  • Adds 40 Immunity while selected, raising resistance to Poison and Scarlet Rot buildup. It neither cures an ailment already active nor reduces every tick of its damage.
  • Parry is fitted by default and costs no FP. Its light weight and resistance passive are separate from its partial physical blocking.
  • Two shield carriers are in Perfumer's Grotto's first large chamber: a patrolling Perfumer below and the seated one beside the giant Miranda plant. The Perfumer on the upper ledge carries a sword instead.
  • The selected Altus Perfumers have a 2% base shield chance at 100 Discovery. Some expansion Perfumers use a different drop list; do not apply their rate to this cave.
  • The Omenkiller and Miranda boss pair is unnecessary for the farm. Defeat the nearby shield carriers, collect their drops and rest at the entrance grace.
  • Upgrade it with ordinary Smithing Stones to +25. The listed blocking percentages and base Guard Boost describe Standard affinity; changing affinity can trade physical protection for an element.
  • Can use compatible shield Ashes of War. Shield Grease or Scholar's Shield can improve guarding; these are defensive shield buffs rather than permission to apply ordinary offensive grease to every affinity.
