About this armor
The cape-free version weighs 8.4 and provides 17 poise, saving 0.9 weight and losing 2 poise compared with the regular chest.
Altering it removes the 5% damage bonus to Fire Serpent, Rain of Fire and Messmer's Orb. This is a mechanical tradeoff as well as an appearance change.
It also has lower damage negation and status resistance. Reversing the alteration restores the regular chest, including its spell bonus.
In-game description
Armor of the Fire Knights under Messmer the Impaler's personal command.
Each and every knight hailed from a renowned family of the Erdtree's upper echelons, but were shunned and chased from their homes after pledging allegiance to Messmer as their master.
Where to find
Specimen Storehouse walkways, then tailoring at a grace
Shadow Keep
Starting Site of Grace: Storehouse, Seventh Floor
Before you go
- Obtain Fire Knight Armor first.
- Enter the Realm of Shadow after defeating Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, by touching the withered arm in Mohg's arena.
- From Highroad Cross in Scadu Altus, follow the main road north to Shadow Keep's southern gate. Ride the entrance lift and activate Shadow Keep Main Gate grace.
- Defeat Golden Hippopotamus in the plaza. This is the front-door route; the flooded Church District provides a different way into the keep.
- From Main Gate Plaza, leave through the west-northwest doorway, pass through the armory and climb the stairs. Continue up the wooden steps to the dining hall, where two Black Knights guard the route.
- Leave the dining hall through its southeastern exit to the upper rampart. Follow the rampart past the burning boats and watch for the small Shadow Militiamen hiding beside them.
- Take the stairs leading north-northeast toward the large lift, passing the Fire Knight in front of it. Ride up and activate Storehouse, First Floor grace.
- From Storehouse, First Floor, ride the entrance lift back down. The tall Fire Knight carrying the long greatsword near the bottom is a repeatable armor-farming target.
- Defeat it, collect any dropped loot, ride back up and rest at the grace. Repeat for the piece you need. Each armor piece has its own drop roll, so one kill can leave you without the desired item.
- Ordinary soldiers and Shadow Militiamen do not drop the Fire Knight outfit. You do not need to defeat Messmer or reach the seventh floor for this selected farm.
- Obtain Tailoring Tools from the two Demi-Human Chiefs in Coastal Cave on western Limgrave's beach if needed.
- At a grace, choose Alter garments and spend 500 runes to alter the piece you own. You can reverse the change through the same menu.
Notes
- The cape-free version weighs 8.4 and provides 17 poise, saving 0.9 weight and losing 2 poise compared with the regular chest.
- Altering it removes the 5% damage bonus to Fire Serpent, Rain of Fire and Messmer's Orb. This is a mechanical tradeoff as well as an appearance change.
- It also has lower damage negation and status resistance. Reversing the alteration restores the regular chest, including its spell bonus.
- Farm the regular chest from a Fire Knight, then use ordinary Tailoring Tools and 500 runes at a grace. It does not need the Golden Tailoring Tools for demigod armor.
- The matching helm keeps its own HP, stamina and equip-load bonuses independently. Removing the chest cape does not turn those effects off.
