Starting Site of Grace: Main Caria Manor Gate

Reach the western Liurnia road and follow it north through Kingsrealm Ruins. Strike the illusory wall blocking the road at the northern end, then continue past Iji at Road to the Manor.
Ride toward the large manor while avoiding the magical strikes falling along the approach. Activate Main Caria Manor Gate grace at the entrance.
Enter Caria Manor through its main gate and explore the garden along the eastern wall. Watch for the Fingercreepers buried in the ground and hanging above the paths.
Find the corpse tucked behind a rough stone pillar in this part of the garden. Collect Ice Crest Shield there before continuing upstairs into the manor.

Requires nine Strength and weighs three. Standard affinity blocks 87% Physical and 57% Magic damage, with 51 base Guard Boost; Lightning protection is only 18%.
Adds 40 Robustness while selected, raising resistance to both Blood Loss and Frostbite. This is a buildup-resistance bonus rather than a reduction to the damage of every ice attack.
The passive does not add Frostbite to shield attacks or improve frost buildup on another weapon. Intelligence is not required to receive its resistance.
No Skill is fitted by default, leaving the right-hand weapon skill available while the shield is in the left hand.
The corpse is in Caria Manor's lower garden. Royal Knight Loretta and the manor's upper walkways are unnecessary for this pickup.
Upgrade it with ordinary Smithing Stones to +25. The listed blocking percentages and base Guard Boost describe Standard affinity; changing affinity can trade physical protection for an element.
Can use compatible shield Ashes of War. Shield Grease or Scholar's Shield can improve guarding; these are defensive shield buffs rather than permission to apply ordinary offensive grease to every affinity.
