Notes

  • A small shield requiring 8 Strength and weighing 2. Standard physical protection is 86%, with 49 base Guard Boost, so it allows chip damage even on a successful block.
  • Standard Holy guarding is 45%, Magic 43%, Fire 31% and Lightning 24%. The metal rivets do not make it a full-physical-block shield.
  • Comes with Parry and can use compatible Ashes of War. It is a light parrying option, but an ordinary block is still governed by its limited damage coverage and your stamina.
  • Warrior begins with it in a secondary left-hand equipment slot. Switch away from the second scimitar to draw it; having a shield in another slot does not provide guarding while you are using the paired swords.
  • Other classes can buy a copy for 600 runes from the merchant beside the road east of Mistwood Ruins. Warrior can buy that separate copy too. Its Standard attacks scale with Strength.
  • Upgrade with Smithing Stones to +25. Defensive Shield Grease or a compatible shield-buff spell can improve guarding separately from offensive weapon coatings. Reinforcement does not remove chip damage from an incompletely blocked damage type.
