Scadu Altus

Starting Site of Grace: Moorth Ruins

Before you go

  • To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
  • Access the Realm of Shadow and reach Scadu Altus.
  • Collect the May the Best Win gesture at Highroad Cross.
  1. Reach Highroad Cross in Scadu Altus, just beyond Castle Ensis's northern exit after Rellana. Collect Monk's Missive and the May the Best Win gesture beside the cross.
  2. From Highroad Cross, follow the road north to its junction, then take the east-southeast road to Moorth Ruins. Dane stands beside its grace and cross. Talking alone does not begin the duel.
  3. Stand in front of Dane and perform May the Best Win. Let the gesture finish to enter the duel, then defeat him. You can retry if you lose.
  4. Back in your world, collect Dryleaf Arts and Dane's Hat beside his position. Entering the later battle against Leda's allies makes this earlier duel unavailable, so finish it before advancing that encounter.

Notes

  • Requires 8 Strength and 8 Dexterity, weighs 1 and has a critical rating of 100. It deals Strike damage and combines palm strikes, punches and kicks at short range.
  • Standard has equal Strength and Dexterity scaling. Heavy focuses on Strength, Keen favors Dexterity and Occult favors Arcane. Magic, Flame Art and Sacred add their respective Intelligence or Faith scaling; those attributes do not improve Standard by themselves.
  • This is paired hand-to-hand equipment. Two-handing one copy gives the combined moveset without needing a second copy. It is a separate weapon class from ordinary fists and claws.
  • Upgrade it with Smithing Stones to +25. Can use compatible Ashes of War and affinities, including the hand-to-hand skills Palm Blast and Dryleaf Whirlwind.
  • Grease and external weapon enchantments cannot be applied, even with a physical affinity. Adding a Blood, Poison or Cold affinity is a separate way to give its hits status buildup.
  • It has no innate blood loss or other ailment. Arcane can improve buildup added by an appropriate Blood or Poison affinity, but it does not increase Cold frost buildup.
  • Palm Blast costs 14 FP and can be charged for a larger, stronger close-range blast. Its damage follows the weapon's damage and affinity, rather than a staff or seal's casting strength.
  • The kick attacks benefit from Shattered Stone Talisman and Divine Bird Warrior Greaves. Those kicking bonuses do not apply to every punch or to Palm Blast. Repeated connecting hits can build successive-hit bonuses.
  • The light weight is useful for keeping total equipment weight low, but its short reach still matters. Long attack strings can leave you exposed if the target moves out of range.
  • The Moorth Ruins duel rewards this weapon and Dane's Hat. The waterfall clothes and later kicking-focused Dane's Footwork are separate pickups. Defeating him in the friendly duel does not permanently kill him.
