Starting Site of Grace: Volcano Manor
Before you go
- Get the Drawing-Room Key from Tanith.
- Speak to Tanith in Volcano Manor and agree to join her to receive the Drawing-Room Key. Go down the manor corridor and unlock the first door on your right.
- In that room, roll into or strike the wall in the back-right corner to reveal the hidden passage. Follow the passage into the adjoining room and take the stairs down, watching for poison snails.
- A Bloodhound Knight waits in the lower room before the passage to Prison Town Church. Defeat it to receive Bloodhound Claws. It is this knight inside the manor that drops the claws, rather than Bloodhound Knight Darriwil in Limgrave.
- The knight is required for this weapon, but entering Prison Town, completing invasion contracts and killing Rykard are unnecessary. Return to the nearby manor grace if you need another attempt.
Notes
- With Standard affinity, physical damage scales most strongly with Strength, with weaker Dexterity scaling.
- Its critical rating is 110. This improves critical attacks such as backstabs and ripostes; it does not give every ordinary attack the same bonus.
- Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
- Can use compatible Ashes of War. Your choice of skill and the whetblades you've found determine which affinities you can apply.
- Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
- Two-hand these claws to use the pair. You do not need a second copy for the paired moveset.
- Its normal weapon hits build up blood loss. The effect only triggers against enemies that are vulnerable to it.
- Requires 10 Strength and 15 Dexterity and weighs 3. Strength contributes slightly more than Dexterity on Standard, while Heavy emphasizes Strength further.
- Has 60 innate Blood Loss buildup. Raising Arcane on Standard does not improve it; an Arcane-scaling affinity such as Occult lets Arcane affect the existing bleed.
- The curved claws bypass part of an enemy's guarding damage negation. They can chip through a raised shield, but do not ignore the target's armor or guarantee a guard break.
- Bloodhound's Step costs 5 FP and travels farther than Quickstep. Light equip load improves its travel, while repeated uses and PvP attacks have shorter protection than a fresh PvE use.
- The step is an evasive movement rather than a damage buff. It does not prevent every status effect or make a long series of untimed steps permanently safe.
- An eligible grease or weapon enchantment applied to the right-hand claws covers the pair while two-handed. Both claws use the same reinforcement level.
- The Manor knight gives one guaranteed copy and does not respawn. Darriwil gives Bloodhound's Fang, while the knight in Gelmir Hero's Grave has a separate armor reward.
