LocationBoggart at Boilprawn Shack or the capital outskirts moat

Liurnia of the Lakes

Starting Site of Grace: Boilprawn Shack

Before you go

  • Obtaining this weapon requires Boggart to die. This ends his living quest.
  1. At Scenic Isle in southern Liurnia, head east toward the stone gazebo near the telescope. Speak to Rya about her stolen necklace before entering Volcano Manor, which ends this early meeting.
  2. Ride northwest across the shallow lake to Boilprawn Shack. Talk to Boggart beside the cooking pot, ask for the necklace and choose Deal to open the purchase.
  3. Buy Rya's Necklace for 1,000 runes. Buying it keeps Boggart alive and opens his prawn shop; purchase at least one Boiled Prawn if you want his later move and crab stock.
  4. You can kill Boggart at the shack for Iron Ball, but doing so ends his quest immediately. If keeping his food shop, leave him alive after buying a prawn and finishing his conversation.
  5. After reaching Altus Plateau, he moves to the moat outside Leyndell. From Capital Rampart, leave toward the northeast, follow the path down to the water and look west for his cooking camp.
  6. Buy at least one Boiled Crab there if you want that stock available through his bell bearing later. His death can be your own choice or the outcome of the Dung Eater moat quest.
  7. Collect Iron Ball from Boggart when he dies. Braggart's Roar comes attached to it. Giving his bell bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks preserves eligible shop stock, but does not supply the weapon or Ash.

Notes

  • A paired Strike weapon. Two-handing one copy equips both fists, so a second weapon is unnecessary for its paired attacks. It requires 11 Strength and 8 Dexterity and weighs 2.5.
  • Standard physical damage favors Strength, with much weaker Dexterity scaling. Heavy emphasizes Strength; other affinities change the damage and attribute balance.
  • Its heavy attacks use the same quick punching pattern as Star Fist, rather than the successive heavy punches of Caestus. Fully charged heavy attacks can benefit from Axe Talisman and Spiked Cracked Tear.
  • The small fists have very short reach. Stand close enough for both hands to connect instead of assuming that locking onto a large enemy guarantees a hit.
  • It has no innate Blood Loss. Star Fist has built-in bleed, while Iron Ball needs a suitable affinity or coating if you want status buildup.
  • Boggart drops it with the transferable Braggart's Roar attached. That skill costs 16 FP and normally lasts 60 seconds, improving physical attack power, protection and stamina recovery while changing heavy attacks.
  • Removing that attached Ash reveals Endure as the weapon's underlying default skill. Endure costs 9 FP and briefly helps you withstand interruption; its short defensive effect is different from the roar.
  • Upgrade with regular Smithing Stones to +25. Can use compatible Ashes of War. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
  • Killing Boggart early removes his living quest and later direct crab shop. Buying and unlocking his food before his death preserves more of that stock through his bearing.
  • Its critical rating is 100. Paired heavy hits can apply separate damage packets, but a charged heavy is not a backstab or riposte.
