Caelid
Starting Site of Grace: Fort Gael North
- From Rotview Balcony on the western edge of Caelid, travel south toward Fort Gael North. Continue uphill through the soldiers and barricades to the fort.
- From Fort Gael North, climb toward the fort. Its main gate is closed, so follow the outside wall around the right side to the ladder guarded by a soldier.
- Climb onto the rampart and work around to the wooden platform overlooking the fort's lower interior. Drop east into the dark room below.
- Open the chest in that room for Katar. The Lion Guardian in the courtyard does not need to be defeated for the chest.
Notes
- Requires 8 Strength and 10 Dexterity and weighs 2.5. Standard physical damage favors Dexterity, with weaker Strength scaling. Keen emphasizes Dexterity.
- Two-handing one copy equips both fists. Its forward blade attacks give it a different feel from the short blunt punches of Iron Ball or Caestus.
- It has a critical rating of 110, higher than the usual 100 on fist weapons. This improves backstabs and ripostes, rather than adding the same bonus to every ordinary punch.
- Its attacks include Pierce damage, allowing appropriate thrusts to benefit from thrust counter damage when they connect during an enemy attack. Do not apply that bonus to every attack simply because the weapon has a pointed blade.
- Impaling Thrust is its native skill and costs 9 FP. The forward lunge reaches farther than its ordinary punches and bypasses much of a raised guard, rather than making all attacks unblockable.
- There is a compatibility exception: the transferable Impaling Thrust Ash cannot normally be applied to Fists, even though Katar starts with the skill. Replacing its skill also means losing access to Impaling Thrust while that replacement is installed.
- Remove the installed Ash to return to the weapon's native skill. You cannot simply select the transferable Impaling Thrust Ash to keep it alongside a different affinity.
- Upgrade with regular Smithing Stones to +25. Can use compatible Ashes of War. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
- Has no innate Blood Loss or other status buildup. A bladed appearance does not give it bleed without an appropriate affinity or coating.
- The weapon is a fixed chest pickup in Fort Gael, not the Lion Guardian's reward. You can collect it without fighting that enemy in the courtyard.
