In-game description

An iron bludgeon with sharp protrusions.

Striking attacks have few drawbacks, potent as they are at breaking through guards and stances. Most suited to head on slugging matches.

Where to find

Map pending
LocationTwin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold

Starting Site of Grace: Table of Lost Grace

Before you go

  • Bring 800 runes.
  1. Reach Roundtable Hold through Melina's invitation while resting at a grace. Once you have visited, use its separate icon on the map to travel back; it is not a building reached by riding across Limgrave.
  2. From the central table, take the passage toward the Twin Maiden Husks and find the two seated figures in their small chamber. Use their regular purchase menu, rather than one of the separate bell-bearing shops.
  3. Buy Mace for 800 runes. This is the small hammer named Mace, separate from Great Mace.

Notes

  • With Standard affinity, physical damage scales more strongly with Strength than Dexterity. Heavy is the direct Strength option. Its two starting D letters do not mean equal scaling.
  • Its heavy attacks briefly hold the mace upright before the strike. The one-handed heavy attacks have resistance to interruption that most small hammers lack, which can help when using a shield in the other hand. You still take damage during a trade, and a strong enough hit can interrupt you.
  • The charged heavy attacks are slower than the usual hammer versions. Start charging when you have an opening instead of assuming the extra interruption resistance will protect the entire windup.
  • Deals Strike damage and has no innate bleed. It is an easy early blunt weapon for miners and other enemies that resist your cutting weapon, without needing to farm a drop first.
  • Comes with Kick, which costs no FP and is useful for breaking an enemy's guard while they are blocking. It is not a damaging hammer swing or a reliable way to interrupt every large enemy. Replace it with a compatible Ash of War if you want a different skill.
  • Requires 12 Strength and 7 Dexterity, weighs 4.5 and has a normal critical rating of 100. At 8 Strength you can meet the Strength requirement by two-handing it.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War and upgrades with Smithing Stones to +25. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied with Standard, Heavy, Keen or Quality affinity; elemental and status affinities prevent ordinary weapon coatings.
  • The Twin Maiden Husks sell one for 800 runes per journey. Their ordinary stock is available without a bell bearing.
