Where to find
Liurnia of the Lakes
Starting Site of Grace: Scenic Isle
- From Scenic Isle, head southwest to the Fire Monk camp on the southern lakeside. Find the monks carrying the large mace rather than the soldiers guarding them.
- Defeat the mace carriers and check their drops. Rest at Scenic Isle and repeat until Monk's Flamemace drops.
Notes
- Requires 13 Strength and 13 Dexterity, and weighs 6. Standard Physical scaling strongly favors Dexterity, with weaker Strength scaling, which is unusual for a hammer.
- Deals Strike Physical damage. The flame-shaped head does not give it innate Fire damage or Faith scaling.
- Its unique heavy attacks trade speed for stronger hits. The second normal heavy is stronger than a typical hammer equivalent, and its charged heavies are also stronger but noticeably slower.
- Axe Talisman improves those charged ordinary heavies. Godfrey Icon does not, because they are not charged spells or skills.
- Keen suits its Dexterity emphasis. Its special Keen reinforcement gives slightly weaker Dexterity scaling to some independent projectile skills, including Beast's Roar and Thunderbolt, than the usual Keen projectile setup.
- That projectile quirk does not mean Keen makes its ordinary mace attacks stop scaling with Dexterity. Weapon-contact damage and independent skill projectiles use different calculations.
- Kick is the starting skill and costs no FP. It pressures a blocking enemy's guard, rather than adding Fire or permanently strengthening the mace.
- Uses ordinary Smithing Stones to +25. Can use compatible Ashes of War. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
- Mace-wielding red Fire Monks are the drop source. Blackflame Monks carrying similar maces do not drop it.
- The southern Liurnia camp offers an early repeatable farm. Another eligible monk is just inside Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave; it is not necessary to reach that late area first.
