Weeping Peninsula

Starting Site of Grace: Castle Morne Rampart

Before you go

  • Visit at night.
  1. From Agheel Lake South, follow the southern road over Bridge of Sacrifice and continue through the Weeping Peninsula to Castle Morne Rampart grace, beside the roadside merchant.
  2. Rest and pass time until nightfall. Follow the road south through the broken wall toward Castle Morne, then turn right and climb the rocky slope toward the western, coastal end of that wall.
  3. Approach the fallen stone ruins on the cliff above the castle approach. The Deathbird appears here at night. If you die and return during daylight, pass time until night again.
  4. Defeat the Deathbird to receive Sacrificial Axe automatically. Holy damage is useful against it. The distant archer golem can hit the bird, but its arrows can hit you too, so do not rely on them as protection.

Notes

  • Restores 4 FP when a nearby creature dies while the axe is in an active hand slot. You do not need to land the killing blow with the axe. Spells, another weapon or nearby combat can trigger the recovery.
  • You can keep it in the active left-hand slot while two-handing your right-hand weapon. Switching away from that slot removes the effect. Carrying it in the inventory alone does not restore FP.
  • Two copies do not stack their recovery. Ancestral Spirit's Horn and Sword of Milos are separate effects that can stack with it. The axe restores FP on deaths, rather than continuously over time, so an isolated boss with no adds gives little opportunity to recover.
  • With Standard affinity, physical damage favors Strength over Dexterity. It has a short blade, so its passive is often easier to use from the other active hand than by relying on the axe for every attack.
  • Comes with Wild Strikes. Hold for repeated swings at 2 FP per use, then use a light or heavy finisher for another 10 or 15 FP. A group of defeated enemies can refund some FP, but the recovery is not guaranteed before the next skill cost.
  • Requires 16 Strength and 10 Dexterity, weighs 5.5 and has a normal critical rating of 100. It has no innate bleed. Two-handing meets the Strength requirement at 11 Strength.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War and upgrades with Smithing Stones to +25. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied with Standard, Heavy, Keen or Quality affinity; elemental and status affinities prevent ordinary weapon coatings.
  • This is a guaranteed reward from the Weeping Peninsula Deathbird at night. Other Deathbirds have different rewards, and Item Discovery does not change this guaranteed boss reward.
