Notes

  • Faith increases this dagger's physical damage even on its normal affinity. That is the important difference from a weapon where Faith only improves an added elemental damage type.
  • Sacred and Flame Art make especially good use of that property. Faith contributes to both the physical damage and the added Holy or Fire damage, so judge the whole weapon rather than dismissing it because the displayed scaling letter does not look exceptional.
  • There is an Arcane exception worth knowing before choosing Blood, Poison or Occult. Those affinities list Arcane scaling, but it is not applied to the dagger's physical attack power. Do not assume the listed letter gives it the normal physical damage benefit of an Occult weapon.
  • Its heavy attacks include a quick double slash, like Black Knife, Blade of Calling and Fire Knight's Shortsword. Landing both hits is useful for consecutive-attack bonuses, provided you can stay close enough to finish the attack.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs. Sacred and Flame Art are alternatives to that setup, rather than affinities you can freely combine with an ordinary grease buff.
  • Kenneth Haight's reward and the Leyndell corpse are separate copies, so you can collect two in one journey. Get the Leyndell copy before the city changes to the Ashen Capital.
  • Upgrade it with Smithing Stones, up to +25. Its starting skill is Quickstep.
