Notes

  • Requires 22 Strength and 10 Dexterity, and weighs 10. Standard physical scaling favors Strength. Two-handing meets the Strength requirement at 15, with all 10 Dexterity still required.
  • Although listed as a great hammer, it uses the greataxe moveset and pairs with greataxes or another Pickaxe for the paired attack sequence. It does not pair with an ordinary great hammer in the usual way.
  • Its ordinary swings deal Pierce damage rather than the Strike damage expected from most great hammers. Hitting during an enemy's attack can therefore benefit from piercing counter damage and Spear Talisman.
  • The hammer category does not make it an automatic answer to enemies weak to Strike. A replacement Ash has its own attack properties, which can differ from the normal pick swings.
  • Endure costs nine FP. Its short protection helps you commit to a swing, but does not prevent incoming damage completely.
  • Heavy affinity uses the alternate progression with a slightly lower Strength contribution to independently scaled skills. This is separate from the pick's ordinary Pierce damage and counter-hit behavior.
  • Pickaxe-carrying miners have a 2% base weapon chance at 100 Discovery. Looting their nearby Smithing Stones does not guarantee the weapon, and miners using a different tool are not equivalent targets.
  • Upgrade it with ordinary Smithing Stones to +25. Its critical rating is the normal 100.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs; elemental and status affinities normally prevent those coatings.
