In-game description
Sword given to the lesser giants who fought for the Erdtree during the War against the Giants long ago.
Though they have lost their minds, they stay inseparable from their swords that are in sad shape—such that the gold plating had flaked away.

Where to find
Altus Plateau
Starting Site of Grace: Erdtree-Gazing Hill
- From Erdtree-Gazing Hill, head southeast down toward the soldier camp with two large carriages, between this grace and Altus Highway Junction.
- Find the carriage near the ballistas and open its rear chest for the sword. You do not need to kill a troll for this version.
Notes
- Requires 29 Strength and 10 Dexterity and weighs 19.0. Two-handing meets the Strength requirement at 20 Strength, but does not lower the Dexterity requirement.
- Deals physical damage on Standard affinity, with stronger Strength scaling and a smaller Dexterity contribution. The gold decoration does not give it innate holy damage or Faith scaling.
- Can use compatible Ashes of War and affinities. Heavy suits a Strength focus, while other affinities change both ordinary damage and scaling. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
- Starts with Troll's Roar. Owning the sword does not give you a transferable copy of that Ash; you need the separate Ash if you want to reapply the roar while selecting another affinity.
- Troll's Roar costs 22 FP. The roar hits around you, then a strong-attack input gives an overhead slam without an extra FP charge. The follow-up still needs stamina, and you can stop after the roar if the enemy has moved away.
- The roar's separate physical attack improves with Strength and weapon reinforcement. Its strongest close contact deals 40 stance damage, while the outer part is weaker. A distant hit is not the same stance-breaking opportunity as landing it beside the target.
- Roar Medallion increases the roar and follow-up damage by 15%, and an active Highland Axe gives another 10%. These improve HP damage rather than increasing stance damage by the same percentages. Godfrey Icon does not apply because the skill is not chargeable.
- Upgrade with Smithing Stones to +25. This is a fixed chest pickup in the Altus carriage camp, rather than a weapon you need to farm from a troll. A second matching copy normally means another journey or a trade.
