In-game description

Stone greatsword wielded by Erdtree Burial Watchdogs.

Though decorated with the watchman's eye, the pupil was taken by graverobbers and is now hollow, leaving this sword a mere lump of stone.

Mountaintops of the Giants

Starting Site of Grace: Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave

  1. Reach the Mountaintops of the Giants using the Rold Medallion after Morgott. Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave sits on the higher western plateau, so its nearby map marker cannot be reached by riding straight up from Zamor Ruins.
  2. From Church of Repose, ride north to the lower cliffside route, then follow the valley west. Use the projecting rock to jump across the gap onto the tomb's plateau. Enter the large doors and ride the lift down to the grace.
  3. Leave the entrance grace and descend past the first Fire Monk. Follow the western hallway and strike the apparent dead-end wall to reveal a hidden passage.
  4. Follow that passage to the windows and drop through the last one into the lower chamber. Draw the shadow enemies into the circle of golden light before trying to damage them.
  5. Lure the Watchdog into the circle of golden light on the floor. Its dark protection disappears when it touches the light, allowing you to damage it.
  6. Defeat the sword-carrying Watchdog and check its drop. Rest and repeat if needed. This is a random drop from the regular enemy, rather than the reward from the Ancient Hero of Zamor boss.

Notes

  • Requires 30 Strength and 10 Dexterity and weighs 22.0. Two-handing meets the Strength requirement at 20 Strength. On Standard affinity its physical damage strongly favors Strength, with only a small Dexterity contribution.
  • Heavy is a strong option for physical Strength damage, but this weapon uses slightly weaker Strength scaling for some independent skill projectiles than comparable Heavy weapons. A higher ordinary attack rating does not guarantee a stronger Vacuum Slice or other separately calculated projectile.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War and affinities. Cold adds magic damage and Frostbite while retaining a useful Strength contribution; raising Arcane does not increase Frostbite buildup. Blood or Poison can add their matching status, while Occult alone does not create a status the sword did not already have.
  • Starts with Stamp (Upward Cut). The bracing step costs 5 FP, and the upward heavy follow-up costs another 8 FP. It is a two-part skill, not a free follow-up just because you have already paid for the stance.
  • Upgrade with Smithing Stones to +25. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
  • Regular sword-carrying Burial Watchdogs have a base 8% drop chance at 100 Discovery. The non-boss enemies in Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave, Giants' Mountaintop Catacombs and Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs are sources. Early catacomb Watchdog bosses do not guarantee this weapon.
  • In Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave, lure the shadow-protected Watchdog into golden light before attacking. Collect any dropped loot, then rest to repeat the farm. The Ancient Hero of Zamor boss is unnecessary.
