Mt. Gelmir

Starting Site of Grace: Bridge of Iniquity

Before you go

  • Reach the lower Mt. Gelmir road from Altus Plateau.
  1. From Bridge of Iniquity, follow the lower road farther into Mt. Gelmir toward the burning camp and Corpse-Stench Shack. Stay on this road past the Abductor Virgins; you do not need to climb the long mountain ladder.
  2. Approach the shack to trigger Anastasia, Tarnished-Eater's invasion. Defeat her to receive the Sacred Butchering Knife.
  3. Sacred is the affinity already applied to the weapon when it drops. The underlying weapon is Butchering Knife, and its compatible Ash of War and affinity can be changed.

Notes

  • Requires 16 Strength and 20 Dexterity and weighs 8.5. On Standard affinity it favors Dexterity, with a smaller Strength contribution, unlike the Strength-focused Bonny version.
  • Successful weapon hits restore 1% of your maximum HP. This is healing when a hit connects, not passive regeneration or a bonus that waits for the enemy to die. Weapon reinforcement does not increase the percentage.
  • Multiple connected hits can restore health repeatedly, but the small recovery does not make trading against heavy attacks safe. The healing is based on your maximum HP rather than the amount of damage that particular hit dealt.
  • Anastasia awards a Sacred Butchering Knife. Sacred is its applied affinity, not a separate weapon identity or a permanent restriction. Can use compatible Ashes of War, and the whetblades you have found determine your extra affinity choices.
  • Keen is an option for a Dexterity focus. Sacred instead gives holy damage and Faith scaling, so changing away from the dropped affinity changes the build it suits. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
  • Upgrade with Smithing Stones to +25. The underlying weapon's default skill is Barbaric Roar, which changes its heavy attacks and grants a temporary physical-damage buff. It can be replaced with a compatible skill.
  • The Mt. Gelmir invasion at Corpse-Stench Shack awards this knife. Anastasia's Smoldering Church invasion and Consecrated Snowfield invasion give different rewards, so defeating her elsewhere does not substitute for this encounter.
