Starting Site of Grace: Liftside Chamber
Before you go
- Reach Liftside Chamber in Stormveil Castle.
- After defeating Margit, speak to Gostoc beside Stormveil's main gate and ask for the gate to be opened. This approach follows the main road, with heavy soldier and ballista fire, so heal before moving between its cover.
- Pass through the gate and follow the uphill road into the central courtyard. Avoid the side passage with the Lion Guardian; it is unnecessary for the jars.
- Cross the courtyard past the barricades and flamethrowers, climb its far stairs and activate Liftside Chamber in the nearby room. Rest here before continuing.
- From Liftside Chamber, head east and climb the nearby stairs past the Warhawk. At the top, turn around toward the stone platform above the grace.
- Find the large Exile Soldier carrying the crescent-shaped axe on that platform. Defeat him and check his dropped items.
- The axe is a random drop. Return to Liftside Chamber, rest, and repeat if needed.
Notes
- Requires 25 Strength and 15 Dexterity, and weighs 12.5. Standard scaling is slightly stronger in Dexterity; Heavy changes it toward Strength and removes Dexterity scaling.
- Its distinctive heavy attacks sweep broadly rather than only chopping straight ahead. The charged versions can cover enemies beside and behind you, but the arc can strike walls in a narrow passage.
- Axe of Godrick and Death Knight's Longhaft Axe share this sweeping heavy-attack style. Sharing an animation does not give this axe either weapon's unique skill or elemental damage.
- War Cry costs 16 FP and temporarily changes the heavy attacks. Use the ordinary unbuffed moveset when you want the axe's normal broad sweeps.
- The moon-shaped blade does not add Magic damage or Intelligence scaling. With a physical affinity, its damage comes from the physical attributes supported by that affinity.
- Large Exile Soldiers carrying the axe have a 4% base drop chance at 100 Discovery. Ordinary smaller Exiles do not all supply it, and the farm does not require Godrick to be defeated.
- Upgrade it with ordinary Smithing Stones to +25. Its critical rating is the normal 100.
- Can use compatible Ashes of War. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs; elemental and status affinities normally prevent those coatings.
