Too heavy to be wielded by those of merely ordinary strength, blows from this axe will flatten enemies, and the force of its charged attack is a sight to behold.

Starting Site of Grace: Agheel Lake North

  1. From Agheel Lake North, cross the road bridge east of the lake and follow the road south toward Waypoint Ruins. Find the black carriage pulled by two chained Trolls on the road west of the ruins.
  2. Stop the carriage by staggering or killing one of its Trolls. Move clear of its stomps and draw the escort away from the rear chest.
  3. Climb onto the back and open the chest for Greataxe. The Trolls and escort have separate drops; defeating every enemy is unnecessary once you can safely open the chest.

Notes

  • With Standard affinity, physical damage scales most strongly with Strength, with weaker Dexterity scaling.
  • Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War. Your choice of skill and the whetblades you've found determine which affinities you can apply.
  • Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
  • Requires 30 Strength and 8 Dexterity and weighs 13. With 20 Strength you can meet its Strength requirement while two-handing it.
  • Its high base Physical attack comes with a relatively short blade and substantial weight. It can hit hard early, but you need to get closer than with a long-shafted greataxe.
  • Starts with Barbaric Roar for 16 FP. For 40 seconds it increases Physical attack power and Strength scaling and changes heavy attacks into aggressive combinations.
  • The roar occupies the weapon-buff slot. Applying grease or another weapon enchantment replaces that buff rather than adding another coating on top.
  • Fully charged roar-modified heavy attacks can benefit from Axe Talisman, while Roar Medallion improves the altered attacks. Shard of Alexander does not increase those ordinary heavy attacks simply because a skill changed them.
  • It has no innate Blood Loss or elemental damage. Its fixed carriage pickup does not require a boss victory or a rare enemy drop.
