Where to find
Weeping Peninsula
Starting Site of Grace: Castle Morne Lift
- From Agheel Lake South, follow the southern road over Bridge of Sacrifice into the Weeping Peninsula. Watch for the ballista at the far end of the bridge.
- Continue south along the main road past Castle Morne Rampart grace toward the castle on the coast. Avoid the giant archer's shots on the exposed final approach.
- Enter Castle Morne, activate Castle Morne Lift grace and ride the lift into the courtyard.
- In the courtyard, look for the large axe-carrying Scaly Misbegotten on the mound of bodies. Draw it away from the smaller Misbegotten and dogs rather than fighting the entire group on the mound.
- Defeat that axe carrier and collect its drops. Rest at Castle Morne Lift and repeat if the Longhaft Axe does not drop. The smaller Iron Cleaver carriers are different targets.
Weeping Peninsula
Starting Site of Grace: Beside the Rampart Gaol
Before you go
- Reach the rear ramparts of Castle Morne.
- From Beside the Rampart Gaol, cross the wooden bridge southwest to the nearby tower. Find the larger Scaly Misbegotten carrying a long-handled axe, beside a winged enemy.
- Defeat the axe carrier and check its drop. Rest at the grace and repeat if needed. The weapon is a random drop.
Notes
- With Standard affinity, physical damage scales most strongly with Strength, with weaker Dexterity scaling.
- Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
- Can use compatible Ashes of War. Your choice of skill and the whetblades you've found determine which affinities you can apply.
- Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
- Requires 24 Strength and 8 Dexterity and weighs 12.5. Strength is its stronger Standard attribute; two-handing meets the Strength requirement at 16.
- Its main distinction is stronger resistance to interruption during attacks that provide hyper armor, including appropriate two-handed attacks. This does not add permanent armor poise or prevent every stagger.
- Starts with War Cry for 16 FP. The 40-second weapon buff improves Physical attack power and Strength scaling while changing its heavy attacks.
- Roar Medallion improves the altered heavy attacks, and Axe Talisman can improve a fully charged one. The roar does not count as a damaging strike for Shard of Alexander.
- The base drop chance is 2% at 100 Item Discovery from the large, axe-carrying Scaly Misbegotten. Smaller cleaver users and winged enemies have different weapon drops.
- It has no innate Bleed, Fire or Lightning. Death Knight's Longhaft Axe is a separate weapon with a fixed lightning skill.
