Starting Site of Grace: Lake-Facing Cliffs

  1. From Lake-Facing Cliffs, ride west past Church of Irith and climb the ridge beside it. Search the graveyard above the church for the large Skeleton carrying an oversized greataxe.
  2. Defeat it, then strike the glowing remains before it rebuilds itself. Check the dropped items after it dies fully.
  3. The greataxe is a random drop. Rest at Lake-Facing Cliffs and repeat the route until you get it.

Notes

  • With Standard affinity, physical damage scales most strongly with Strength, with weaker Dexterity scaling.
  • Its critical rating is 115. This improves critical attacks such as backstabs and ripostes; it does not give every ordinary attack the same bonus.
  • Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War. Your choice of skill and the whetblades you've found determine which affinities you can apply.
  • Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
  • Requires 34 Strength and 8 Dexterity and weighs 15. Two-handing meets the Strength requirement at 23 Strength, but does not remove the Dexterity requirement.
  • Its long blade and 115 critical rating suit a setup that regularly earns backstabs or critical openings. The critical rating is separate from stance damage and does not make ordinary hits 15% stronger.
  • Starts with War Cry for 16 FP. Its 40-second buff strengthens Physical attack power and changes the heavy attacks; another compatible skill can replace it.
  • Heavy develops the blade's strong Strength scaling, but uses a slightly weaker modifier for some separate Heavy, Quality and Fire skill projectiles. Better blade damage does not guarantee a stronger Ground Slam shockwave or Flame of the Redmanes blast.
  • Its base drop chance is 4% at 100 Item Discovery from the large axe-carrying skeletons. Scythe and glaive carriers in the same graveyard have different drops.
  • It has no innate Blood Loss despite being an executioner's cleaver. Status buildup must come from a compatible affinity or coating.
