Curved greatsword of colossal size forged of dull iron and wielded by the beastmen of Farum Azula.

The blade is incredibly heavy, but well-balanced. Comparatively easy to wield for the damage it delivers. It's clear the beastmen possess knowledge beyond human ken.

Crumbling Farum Azula

Starting Site of Grace: Beside the Great Bridge

Before you go

  • Reach Crumbling Farum Azula and unlock Beside the Great Bridge.
  1. Progress through Farum Azula beyond Godskin Duo and Dragon Temple Rooftop to the church with the Beastmen. Take its rear lift up and activate Beside the Great Bridge before beginning this short repeat route.
  2. From Beside the Great Bridge, go back down the nearby lift. Find the large cleaver-wielding Beastman by the stairs at the bottom.
  3. Kill that Beastman and check the dropped items. The cleaver is a random drop, so ride back up, rest at the grace, and repeat if needed.
  4. An earlier opportunity is the small Farum Azula section reached through the Crumbling Lands waygate at the Four Belfries in western Liurnia. That isolated section has no nearby grace for a quick reset, so the Great Bridge route is more convenient for repeated attempts.

Notes

  • Requires 25 Strength and 14 Dexterity, and weighs 16.5. Standard damage scales only with Strength even though Dexterity is still required to wield it properly.
  • This is a curved greatsword, separate from Beastman's Curved Sword. Its high weight does not give it that smaller sword's special double-contact jumping attacks.
  • It blocks 81% of Physical damage before affinity changes and has 52 base Guard Boost. Two-handing allows a useful weapon block and guard counter, but some damage still gets through and blocking spends stamina.
  • Spinning Slash costs six FP for the opening part and another 12 for the follow-up. Its weapon hits use the cleaver's attack power.
  • Heavy suits Strength-focused physical damage, but its alternate upgrade path slightly lowers the Strength contribution to independently scaled skills. Ordinary cleaver attacks follow their own scaling and attack power.
  • Cleaver-wielding Azula Beastmen have a 2% base drop chance at 100 Discovery. The Four Belfries route offers an earlier attempt against strong enemies; it does not unlock the main Farum Azula area or provide a nearby farming grace.
  • Upgrade it with ordinary Smithing Stones to +25. Its critical rating is the normal 100.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs; elemental and status affinities normally prevent those coatings.
