Where to find
Mountaintops of the Giants
Starting Site of Grace: Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave
Before you go
- Reach the plateau west of Giants' Gravepost.
- Reach the Mountaintops of the Giants using the Rold Medallion after Morgott. Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave sits on the higher western plateau, so its nearby map marker cannot be reached by riding straight up from Zamor Ruins.
- From Church of Repose, ride north to the lower cliffside route, then follow the valley west. Use the projecting rock to jump across the gap onto the tomb's plateau. Enter the large doors and ride the lift down to the grace.
- From the entrance grace, descend the stairs and find the illusory wall in the corner. Strike or roll into it, then follow the hidden passage to its farthest window.
- Jump through that window into the chamber with the shadow enemies and golden light. Use the light if you need to fight the shadow enemies, then take the passage toward the flame pillar.
- Hit the pillar with a ranged attack to lower it and stop the flames. In the corridor it guarded, look in the right-hand recess for the red-robed Fire Monk with a curved greatsword.
- Defeat that sword carrier and check his drops. Return to the entrance grace and repeat the route if needed. The Ancient Hero boss and later shadow troll are unnecessary for this farm.
Notes
- Requires 18 Strength and 18 Dexterity, and weighs 9. Standard Physical scaling favors Dexterity, with a substantial but smaller Strength contribution.
- Deals Physical Slash damage on Standard affinity. Its name, flame-shaped blade and Fire Monk origin do not give it innate Fire damage or Faith scaling.
- It is relatively short for a curved greatsword. The sweeping attacks still need the enemy within reach, so do not judge the hit range from a longer weapon in the same class.
- Keen emphasizes Dexterity and Heavy emphasizes Strength. Fire or Flame Art can add Fire damage, with Strength and Faith emphasis respectively, instead of making every version a Faith weapon.
- Spinning Slash is the starting skill: 6 FP for the opening and 12 for the follow-up. Its slashes use the weapon's chosen attack power and damage split.
- Has no innate Blood Loss or burn effect. A status affinity or compatible coating is needed if you want extra buildup.
- Uses ordinary Smithing Stones to +25. Can use compatible Ashes of War. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
- The eligible red-robed sword carrier is inside Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave. Similar-looking Blackflame Monks do not drop this sword.
- The drop is random and the tomb boss is unnecessary. Target the correct Fire Monk near the lowered flame trap instead of clearing the entire dungeon for each attempt.
