Where to find
Weeping Peninsula
Starting Site of Grace: Tombsward Catacombs
- Cross into Weeping Peninsula and reach the Church of Pilgrimage on the northern high ground. Head south toward the Minor Erdtree, looking behind the broken stone arch at the cliff for Tombsward Catacombs' doors.
- Activate the grace and follow the main passage past the optional Stonesword Key room. That room contains a cookbook and is unnecessary for Lhutel.
- At the sealed boss door, take the doorway on the right into the first skeleton room. Look for the skeleton carrying the large curved blade beside the fire-pot thrower.
- Defeat the curved-sword carrier and strike its glowing remains before it stands again. Collect any dropped loot, then return to the entrance grace to reset.
- Repeat until Grossmesser drops. The Stonesword Key room, fire-pillar route and Cemetery Shade boss are unnecessary for this early farm.
Notes
- With Standard affinity, physical damage scales most strongly with Strength, with weaker Dexterity scaling.
- Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
- Can use compatible Ashes of War. Your choice of skill and the whetblades you've found determine which affinities you can apply.
- Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
- Requires 14 Strength and 12 Dexterity and weighs 4.5. Its long blade and higher base Physical attack come with more weight and a higher Strength requirement than Scimitar or Shamshir.
- Strength is its stronger Standard scaling attribute. Heavy emphasizes Strength further, while Keen and other compatible affinities can support a different setup.
- Starts with Spinning Slash, costing 6 FP for the opening spin and another 12 FP for the follow-up. It uses the ordinary curved-sword light pattern rather than Shamshir's distinct forward-stepping chain.
- The large blade still belongs to the curved-sword class. Pair it with another curved sword for the paired moveset, rather than a curved greatsword such as Dismounter.
- The base drop chance is 2% at 100 Item Discovery from skeletons carrying this particular large curved sword. Scimitar carriers and archers have different weapon drops.
- It has no innate Blood Loss, Scarlet Rot or other status. A status affinity or compatible coating supplies those effects separately.
