Starting Site of Grace: West Capital Rampart

Before you go

  • Enter Leyndell before it becomes the Ashen Capital.
  1. From Avenue Balcony in Leyndell, go down the stairs toward the knights and the enormous dead dragon. Avoid the archer's line of fire and climb the dragon's stone wing.
  2. Continue from the wing into the upper passage, climb the ladder and follow the steps past the knight to West Capital Rampart grace.
  3. Leave toward the southeast and follow the rampart toward the golden sapling and the small Oracle Envoys. The Valiant Gargoyle stands beside this group, before the large root used to reach the sanctuary.
  4. Defeat that gargoyle for Gargoyle's Halberd. It is a guaranteed reward from this specific enemy, not the gargoyle on the outer approach to the capital.
  5. Collect it before defeating Maliketh, which changes Leyndell and removes this ordinary Royal Capital encounter.

Notes

  • With Standard affinity, physical damage scales most strongly with Strength, with weaker Dexterity scaling.
  • Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War. Your choice of skill and the whetblades you've found determine which affinities you can apply.
  • Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
  • The Royal Capital gargoyle is lost when Leyndell becomes the Ashen Capital. Collect this weapon before defeating Maliketh.
  • Requires 26 Strength and 10 Dexterity and weighs 12. Two-handing meets its Strength requirement at 18; Heavy suits its much stronger Strength contribution.
  • Starts with Spinning Slash, costing 6 FP for the first spin and 12 FP for the follow-up. A compatible replacement skill and affinity can change how you use it.
  • It is a compact Strength-focused halberd with no innate Holy damage or status buildup. The black version is a separate Holy weapon, rather than an upgraded form of this one.
  • This particular capital gargoyle supplies one guaranteed copy. Repeatedly resting does not respawn it for additional halberds.
