Notes

• Requires 10 Strength and 10 Dexterity and weighs 4. Standard affinity strongly favors Strength over Dexterity for Physical damage.
• Its heavy attack sweeps across rather than making the usual straight-sword thrust, and its rolling attack uses an upward cut. The sweep can catch an enemy beside you but lacks a Pierce counter-hit bonus.
• Square Off still provides a lunging thrust as its strong follow-up. Holding the stance costs no FP; the upward light follow-up costs 6 and the thrust costs 8.
• The default skill can pressure guards or stance, but its braced appearance does not block for you. Use it during an opening.
• Its critical rating is 100. It does not share the higher critical modifier of Lordsworn's Straight Sword.
• Confessor starts with one. A separate copy costs 1,800 runes from the merchant southeast of Coastal Cave, allowing that class to obtain two early.
• Upgrade it with Smithing Stones to +25. Can use compatible Ashes of War; changing the affinity can change which attributes improve its damage.
• Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
• It has no innate blood loss, poison or Frostbite. An appropriate affinity or compatible buff is needed if you want one of those effects.
• On Heavy affinity, certain independent Strength-scaling skill projectiles have slightly weaker scaling than the ordinary Heavy upgrade family. Ground Slam and Flame of the Redmanes are examples. This exception does not weaken every skill or apply on every affinity.
