Though the Erdtree styling is still visible, time has not been kind to this sword, now merely a shadow of its former self.

Starting Site of Grace: Rampart Tower

Before you go

Reach Rampart Tower in Stormveil.

From Rampart Tower, the opened lift shortcut beside the grace takes you down toward the dining hall. If it is not open yet, use the outside rampart with the barrel-carrying hawks instead.
On that outside route, follow the rampart to the chapel roof and descend into the chapel where Rogier first appears. Leave past the patrolling knight and follow the connecting rooms to the large hall with the Grafted Scion.
Find the three Commoners seated beside the fireplace near the hall's stairs. Defeat them and check their drops while keeping clear of the Scion if it is still alive.
Rest at Rampart Tower and repeat. Once the lift shortcut is open from below, use it to shorten later runs. The sword is a random Commoner drop rather than loot from the dining table.

Notes

With Standard affinity, physical damage scales most strongly with Dexterity, with weaker Strength scaling.
Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
Can use compatible Ashes of War. Your choice of skill and the whetblades you've found determine which affinities you can apply.
Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
Requires 7 Strength and 10 Dexterity and weighs 3. Its low Strength requirement suits a character who wants Square Off without investing enough Strength for a heavier straight sword.
Starts with Square Off: 6 FP for the guard-breaking light follow-up or 8 FP for the forward thrust. Its skill remains useful even though the short blade has modest ordinary attack damage.
The current base weapon chance is 2% from eligible Commoners at 100 Item Discovery. The servants beside Stormveil's dining-hall fireplace provide several attempts on one run.
Its worn appearance does not reduce the maximum upgrade level or add a durability problem. The limitations are its actual reach, damage and scaling, rather than a hidden penalty from the name.
Standard has no innate status. You can build around a different affinity or a temporary coating without losing the sword's ordinary light and heavy moveset.
