Starting Site of Grace: Castle Front
Before you go
- To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
- From Castle Front, follow the upper road southeast toward Pillar Path Waypoint.
- Find the corpse guarded by three Messmer Soldiers along the road and loot it for the spear. It is a fixed pickup, rather than a drop from the soldiers.
- Keep to the upper road toward the pillar area rather than taking the downhill river branch. Loot the body itself after making room among the three soldiers; killing them without collecting the corpse does not give the spear.
Notes
- Requires 10 Strength and 26 Dexterity and weighs 3.0. On Standard affinity its physical damage scales only with Dexterity. Strength is an equipment requirement there, so two-handing does not add an ordinary Strength damage bonus to that affinity.
- Its light chain uses quick consecutive thrusts, with some steps producing several contacts. Each small contact deals less than a full ordinary spear hit, so the speed does not mean every thrust has a normal spear's full damage or status buildup.
- The rapid light contacts use 60% of the weapon's ordinary status buildup, while retaining full added flat weapon-buff damage. This makes a suitable weapon enchantment useful without making every status affinity an automatic best choice.
- It has no innate bleed or poison. Blood, Poison or Cold can supply their matching buildup, while Occult alone does not invent a status. Arcane does not improve Cold's fixed Frostbite buildup.
- Starts with Impaling Thrust, costing 9 FP. It gives a single forward lunge with guard penetration, rather than simply speeding up the normal multi-hit chain.
- Can use compatible Ashes of War and affinities. Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs. Upgrade with Smithing Stones to +25.
- This is a fixed corpse pickup southeast of Castle Front. It does not need to be farmed from the soldiers guarding the body, and the much larger Messmer Soldier's Spear is a different weapon class.
