In-game description

Bronze twinblade wielded by Valiant Gargoyles.

Just like the wielder, the missing parts have been mended with corpse wax; a patchwork of champions.

Starting Site of Grace: Aqueduct-Facing Cliffs

Before you go

  • Defeat Starscourge Radahn and reach Nokron.
  1. Defeat Starscourge Radahn at the Radahn Festival in Redmane Castle. His defeat opens the starfall crater in Limgrave; it is not the sealed Siofra River overlook reached from the Four Belfries.
  2. Return to the Mistwood near Fort Haight and find the new crater marked by floating rocks. Use the descending ledges and openings to enter Nokron, Eternal City.
  3. Follow the rooftops down into Nokron's streets, then continue to the Mimic Tear boss. Defeat it and cross the long bridge beyond the arena.
  4. Leave the bridge on the left where it opens into woodland. Follow the western cliff to Ancestral Woods grace, overlooking the lower rooftops.
  5. From the upper woodland, go toward the trees beside Hallowhorn Grounds and the Spirit Jellyfish along the northern cliff. Use the lower ledge below the edge, then follow the descending path into the cave to Aqueduct-Facing Cliffs grace. You do not need to light the ancestor pillars.
  6. Leave the cave toward the aqueduct. Drop onto the stone support leading to the building, then onto the lower ledge. A Crucible Knight patrols nearby, so wait for an opening before moving across.
  7. Continue toward the building with water pouring out. Another Crucible Knight stands by the waterfall. Go north through the water channel, turn into the area on the right and climb the stairs through the arch. D's twin sits near this approach to the boss.
  8. Climb the stairs beyond D's seated brother and enter the large waterfall arena. Defeat both Valiant Gargoyles to receive Gargoyle's Greatsword and Gargoyle's Twinblade together.
  9. The second gargoyle joins before the first one is necessarily dead. Keep clear of the damaging poison clouds and finish the weakened opponent when you have an opening.
  10. The rewards come from completing the pair. Giving away the Twinned outfit, using the coffin afterward and progressing Fia's quest are unnecessary for either weapon.

Notes

  • With Standard affinity, physical damage scales most strongly with Strength, with weaker Dexterity scaling.
  • Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War. Your choice of skill and the whetblades you've found determine which affinities you can apply.
  • Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
  • Requires 18 Strength and 15 Dexterity and weighs 8.5. Its strong Strength scaling makes Heavy a natural choice for a Strength-focused setup, despite the rapid twinblade attacks.
  • Two-handing gives it the twinblade's multi-hit attacks and the effective Strength bonus. Its blades are particularly short, so the extra contacts need close positioning.
  • Starts with Spinning Slash for 6 FP, with a 12-FP follow-up. Both the ordinary multi-hit moveset and skill can build consecutive-hit bonuses when their contacts land.
  • It has no innate bleed. Blood or Poison affinity adds the matching buildup and Arcane scaling, while Occult alone does not create a status effect that was absent to begin with.
  • Heavy has a slightly weaker modifier for some separate Heavy, Quality and Fire skill projectiles. Its high blade attack power does not translate directly into every projectile's damage.
  • Gargoyle's Black Blades is the separate Somber weapon from the Forbidden Lands. This regular twinblade keeps the freedom to change skills, affinities and eligible coatings.
