Altus Plateau

Starting Site of Grace: Windmill Village

Before you go

  • Reach Altus Plateau.
  1. Reach Altus Plateau with the Dectus Medallion halves from Fort Haight and Fort Faroth, or defeat Magma Wyrm Makar at the top of Ruin-Strewn Precipice.
  2. From Altus Highway Junction, follow the road north past the map monument to Forest-Spanning Greatbridge. The waygate beside that grace brings you to the northern end of the broken bridge.
  3. Leave the northern bridge end and follow the road east across northern Altus, toward the windmills. At the village junction, take the uphill path through the wooden entrance arch and activate Windmill Village grace.
  4. From Windmill Village grace, climb the main village path past the dancing celebrants. Stay on the rising path toward the highest windmill rather than the separate pastures along the northern road.
  5. Defeat the Godskin Apostle at the top. This encounter awards Godskin Peeler and Scouring Black Flame together; it does not require finishing Millicent's quest or defeating Radahn.

Notes

  • With Standard affinity, physical damage scales most strongly with Dexterity, with weaker Strength scaling.
  • Upgrade it with Smithing Stones. Its maximum upgrade is +25.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War. Your choice of skill and the whetblades you've found determine which affinities you can apply.
  • Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
  • Requires 17 Strength and 22 Dexterity and weighs 8. Dexterity is its main Standard damage attribute, despite its black-flame skill being Faith-based.
  • It has no innate bleed or Fire damage on Standard. Blood or Cold affinity adds a status effect; Occult alone does not create bleed.
  • Its standing and charged heavy attacks use the pointed end for thrusts. The running heavy has a thrusting finish, and two-handed light chains also finish with a Pierce contact.
  • Two-handing unlocks the spinning twinblade moveset from one copy. Its multiple contacts can build consecutive-hit bonuses and applied status, with different modifiers for each part.
  • Starts with Black Flame Tornado for 30 FP, much earlier than the transferable Ash from Godskin Duo. That built-in skill does not add a Faith requirement to wield the weapon.
  • The tornado's Fire damage scales with Faith and reinforcement rather than simply copying the blade's Dexterity-based attack power. Its separate weapon contacts use the weapon itself.
  • To combine Black Flame Tornado with Flame Art affinity, obtain the transferable Ash from Godskin Duo first. Owning the Peeler alone does not unlock that Ash for affinity selection.
  • A different compatible Ash can be used before then. Changing skills does not remove the Peeler's unusual thrusting heavy attacks.
  • Keen has a slightly weaker Dexterity modifier for some separate Keen, Quality, Lightning and Cold skill projectiles. This does not remove its strong Dexterity scaling for ordinary blade hits.
  • The hook does not give it innate guard penetration. Its ordinary hits can still be blocked, unlike weapons with an actual guarding-negation bypass.
